I've got a job with the census, (so I get in early), most of my gear, and time off reserved. All I need is a place to call home.
Looking for a camp. Not sure what I want really, and as it's my first burn, I don't really know enough to care.
I'm an engineer, very handy, and good at all sorts of construction type activities. Enthused about helping out with whatever is needed.
I'll be coming from the Portland Oregon area and might be able to take a passenger if someone wants a ride. I'm planning to rent a trailer so I should have more than enough room for all my crap,
Hit me up with a message if you are looking for skilled labor camp mates.

"Planning to rent a trailer." may be an issue. You do know that Burning Man eats up all the available rentals well in advance? Rent now if you can.

Thanks for that good advice. Will do. Or will buy. Whichever.

Why join a camp?
You will be there early, have dibs on prime real estate, and will meet super cool folks also working out there before gates open.
I would set up a light footprint to start, then see how it flows. That way you can pick up and move right quick.
Remember, your not an engineer out there. You're just a dusty guy asking inappropriate questions. You don't need a Gantt chart to make this work.
Relax.

Wogg, Please sign up for all the Census construction shifts pre-event. They will need your help. There are walls to put up, building to do, lights to hang, tarps and fabrics to attach, etc...(Depending when you get there). Sign up on shiftboard.

Huge burner community in Portland. Look at http://regionals.burningman.org/ for possible contacts. You could probably stand by Voodoo Donuts at 2 AM on a Sunday and shout "Hey, any burners here?" until you find somebody.
You don't have to join a camp. You don't have to join a camp. You don't have to join a camp.
That should be on every ticket. Just show up. You have no idea how huge this thing is. First time I went I was just stunned for the first hour by the sheer magnitude of everything. You just - camp. And meet your neighbors. And make friends.
