Greetings Earthlings!

Postby Make_Do » Sun Oct 01, 2017 7:36 pm

Hello normal people!

First post,

I didn't have much luck learning about Burning Man until a few months ago.

I was glued to BMIR and the Youtube live feed this year, all the while searching for more.

While I did find a few credible negative comments, my overall impression is that it sounds too good to be true.

I've read the survival guide and all the other tips I could find along with many of Halcyon's and Teagan's videos.

Extreme heat and I are old friends.

I live in the deep South-Wet coast of Canada and I'm having trouble contacting the local tribes, having sent several emails this past month.

I'm not on Facebook, I have reasons.

Burning Man is at the very top of my bucket list.

Going next year is now officially an obsession...

Helpful suggestions welcome, especially from those with asthma.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Welcome

There's a thread on this forum about asthma, a lot of useful information from real people that might help you out. Click here https://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic.php?t=33387

Here's another on the BM FAQ if you haven't read it already https://burningman.org/event/preparation/health-safety/asthma/

Good luck and happy burn

THANK YOU!

That confirms what I suspected.

I don't have much experience with alkaline dust beyond drywall/sheetrock, and I was concerned with the Ph value.

I finally made contact with the natives here Friday and they're friendly.

No worries...
The most important thing I think, and I can't stress it enough, Is definitely bring some sort of face protection wherever you go..
I got caught in a gnarly dust storm this year with no face protection at all (forgot it at camp) and could instantly feel it in my lungs. The feeling subsided pretty quickly, thank god, and I was promtply gifted a bandana from someone since I was on the opposite side of the playa and pretty far from my camp.
Rookie move, for sure...
you just never know when the wind is gonna kick up out there... the weather is pretty unpredictable.

Good advice.

Health-wise you can't afford to make the same mistake once...

I hate it when I stop breathing.
