Please help find my brother Tim Keller

Post by merkeller1999 » Tue Aug 28, 2018 9:06 pm

Our dad has been living with terminal cancer, and is planning to end his life this Saturday. My brother is at Burning Man and has no idea because he is off the grid. We've been trying to get a hold of him for days. Please help me find Tim Keller to tell him he needs to call his dad. I can send a picture if anyone is able to post it at Center Camp. My email is meredithckeller@gmail.com phone 206-718-0877

Way to fuck up his vacation.
Unless he’s able to change this - which it doesn’t seem he can - let him have his god damn burn.

Here are is the emergency contact info, although it is hit or miss:

https://burningman.org/event/preparatio ... y-contact/

Also, posting a picture at center camp won't do much, there is too much other visual noise. Playa info or the rangers are your best bet.

You can also try the local law enforcement, see if they can help.

My thoughts are with you.

By the way I don’t mean to be harsh and insensitive, things just are what they are and why hit him with this right now and mess up one of the best times in his life. What does that really accomplish besides taking even more away from him?

Frankly, it was pretty fucking harsh and insensitive. He should be given the choice to return or not.

There is always next year to spend at the Burn. There may not be a next year to spend with his dad.

This, of course, makes an unfounded assumption that he and his dad have a good relationship.

Well I’m sorry for that. I really didn’t intend assholiness. I just tend to look at the practical side of things.
We’ve had our share of hardships over here including literally exactly that and others, I hold it together with a philosophy of “we are where we are, we gotta make the best of it”.
I try not to bother people who are away on their good times with things they can’t do anything about anyway. To most burners, this week is the best time of their lives.
Your family is your family, I’m just tossing this out there to consider.

It's a no-win situation for sure.

So much planning goes into getting ready - to be summoned home (and for such a potential reason) would be tough.

Many years ago, I was planning a 2-week camping trip to the Keys when my mom was diagnosed with cancer. I was appalled with myself for feeling disappointed that I couldn't go!

MyLarry was diagnosed with cancer on the 5th. He passed just this past Monday. So yeah, I get it.

(I'm on hold with yet another government agency, may as well moderate on eplaya ...)

AntiM. You have my deepest sympathy. I don't believe I ever met you - I've only attended one Burn to date but I see that your friends on this forum love you dearly.

I too lost a husband to cancer. It is a loss like no other.

Does he have a camp?

Any idea where in BM he might be?

Does he have a thing like fire spinning, dancing, climbing or somesuch.

Does he have a Playa name?

You can try to reach out to BMIR or CampEnvy - the folks that do the video stream - they do active chat on their website, IRC and Slack.
