Month Long Burning Man

Nope - have as much fun as you can for as long as you can and may your final memories in this plane of existance put a smile on your face and warmth in your heart. Know what to hold, know what to fold. And if it's not fun, you're doing something wrong!!blyslv wrote:There's a lot of things in life that you should stop before you have too much. This idea will never fly, it would deplete the worldwide supply of glowsticks that our Emergency Response teams and Homeland Security folks need.Niacin wrote:With a month long BM the new moop problem will be ravers.

It would sure cut back on the population. How many people have the resources to haul that much food and water in?
Maybe if the festival allowed weekly re-provisioning trips or people came and went throughout the month. The city's populace would wax and wane as camps arrived and left...that could be cool and keep things interesting. A different Esplanade every week...
Personally, I couldn't do a whole month out there, health issues aside.

I dunno... as much as I love being there, after my usual 9 or 10 days I'm pretty much ready to go home. And really, how many of us can get a month off? Every time i go to Vegas for 4 days I always feel ready to go home by the third.
And there would be tough logistics about supplies for a month out there.
I could MAYBE see going two weeks... but I dunno about even that.

Yeah... I could do 2 weeks + out there no problem... Did it last year, and could have gone another week, except for work. Damn. Punched my vacation balance pretty hard last year. But it was worth it.
Might even do some DPW weekends this year. Just because.
From a logistics standpoint it wouldn't be too hard, you'd just have to plan things out pretty carefully. After all, entire families did 3-4 months in the wilderness out of a conestoga wagon...
So... how much snow is on the ground in Gerlach??

There would still be a core that comes only for the week.diane o'thirst wrote:It would sure cut back on the population. How many people have the resources to haul that much food and water in?

All I know is that in '06 I'm getting in as early as possible.

Oh let's be pure and only have it for a weekend!
On the other hand, even the Bohemian Grove crowd has a whole month, but one week is the important one--or so I understand.

A month would kill me. I can take a week of weed, X, shrooms, drink, tons of bike riding, precious little deep sleep, sporadic eating, funky portapotties, delicious sexual strangeness, heat, cold, dust, and wind, but a MONTH?! I guess there are many worse ways to die...

I have absolutely no problems with it being longer... a month? Sounds great! If you and your crew can't work out how to get a ride into Reno for more 5 gallon jugs of water and canned food then your crew sucks. I asked one friend about DPW just for this very reason. The two week thing was just too damn short.
I have already got a week and a half prior to gates open OFF from work as well as half a week off into it. My normal schedule is i work two weeks on two weeks off. So essentially I'll have a month off without trying for BM. Anyone want to join me on a 7 week Burning Man?

I believe there is a government wide policy that restricts use of public lands for not more than two weeks. I know they let their workers out to check on things once in awhile so extentions should be carefully considered. On private property, only ones neighbors could be your cap. Also, since on many maps the playa is portrayed as a lake, ownership of lakes requires ownership of some sort of encompassment or both sides. Um, both sides of a circle? What a ninny, thats of navigateable interior waters, and no I will not explain interior. Oh and by the way, I agree with the moop subject, where would we store them?

Hey, I bet you think I am kidding. I have this really cool, expensive metal detector sold to me by a friend.. he had a real good summer with it. That his house burnt down around his ears , but was saved by some guy bursting into his room, a kung fu-ist of all people, he wouldn't have been able to thank me, and the darn thing sits idle. Oh well, I guess discreesion is the better part of valour, right? Thanks for the update. Who says double posting is unacceptable?

Actually, the MOOP we were referring to was ravers. And they glow in the dark, so no good trying to sneak them out at night. That and the constant

would make you pretty easy to find. As far as your toy goes, the more little metal bits you take away from the playa, the better, but it'll be a mixed bag(lots o' those little watch batts used to power raver flashies, etc.) and if you do, and you show me your huge bag of collected bits and what, I'll give you the beverage of your choice on the spot. And if I don't have it I'll find someone who does.

It's snowing here NOW!
Or at least it will tonight and tomorrow. We had some this morning but it didn't survive noon
Tell me again...spring is due to arrive in about ten days?
