Project Megapixels
Just a thought but why not just outline the border of Eplaya Bar Camp this year? You could maintain it and test different materials, methods from the comfort of the bar and it would be still seen from Sat photo's.
Bonus for all the EPBC campers when they view the Sat pictures!

Thanks Mozy
It wasn't Mars, but it is now.
Rockdad, I really want a clear line of site and room to play around with multiple ideas. Plus, assuming the artery still maps us, then people will have a place to go to and that's where I want to put up the info booth. Finally, actually being out there will give me a better sense of scale and of how the wind and elements will affect the final product. In camp I think there may be different air flows and possibly much more dust.

It's going to be alright.

I've been following this concept since the beginning, though I've never posted before. Just wanted to say I really respect the realism you've maintained throughout the entire development of the idea.
And just a note. I'm sure there are many more people like me out there... I am 90% sure that I will be in the desert this year, but I refrained from signing up for pixels until I knew for sure, had my ticket, etc. If only so I wouldnt be one of the flaky "no-shows". I am sad to hear this but I look forward to next years implementation.

You call it malt liquor, I call it breakfast.
I'm in, but the site seems down...
The link seems to be down...

Flyover Dates
OK. We have flyover dates.
31-Aug-2006 18:48:58 GMT (Thurs)
03-Sep-2006 18:57:48 GMT (Sun)
I'm going to go with Thursday the 31st since getting a shot without the man just wouldn't be right.

I've decided I'm not going to do it. A lot of things went the way I expected, but important things didn't and I really don't have the energy to deal with those issues. Basically the biggest problem I had was when I relied on other people to deliver supplies. These arrived late and that made the task of setting up the image difficult.
The final image is visible here http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&om=1&z= ... 033989&t=h
You can find the arrow and the N by finding Conexus Cathedral on the one o clock radial and then continue on out along that radial a bit.
This is the cleaned up version and the contrast is better, but the color variation isn't as good as the original image.
