The breakbeat mobile!

Post by Ocean » Fri Jul 21, 2006 9:22 pm

Anyone know who had the art car last year that drove around all last year playing old school breakbeat???

I'd love to find them again this year!

We played predominantly breaks on The Space Wench, but I wouldn't call it old school. 40 foot long giant silver space pirate ship...

hmmm, not sure it was you I saw.

The tunes I heard were all classic breakbeat/dance stuff from the early days of UK breakbeat hardcore and for some reason I think the breakbeat mobile was not a pirate ship but I could be wrong

There were literally hundreds of art cars out there, and probably dozens playing breaks... it could have been anybody. Possibly the UniMog (Space Cowboys' vehicle), or DEX (the Disorient EXpress from the Disorient camp).

There is a world of difference between the breaks that Space Cowboys and Disorient plays, and old school uk breakbeat hardcore. That stuff is rare these days!

It would depend on the DJ playing at the time, I'd think. I don't think that I've seen either a camp or vehicle that stayed strictly within a single sub-genre (or is that sub-sub-genre, since breaks is a sub-genre of dance music) for the duration of the event.
