Burning Clean and Sober-Anonymous Village

Post by dmzvi » Mon Jul 03, 2006 8:01 am

Those of us burning in recovery have successfully worked to upgrade Anonymous Camp to Anonymous Village. We now have more playa dust to accommodate any participant who wants to camp with other clean and sober burners. We have 3,12-step meeting daily with more upon request, Evening bike wanderings, and group dinners and outings on both burn nights. Join us or tell your friends! :D [/b]

I'm only posting to this thread because I believe it to be worthwhile. Consider this a friendly nudge, and yes, I'll tell my friends (the sober ones, anyway).
I like pudding.

I like tea.

I like chocolate.

Do you like me?

Hi, I'm clean and sober and need a camp. I have a van conversion and the camps I want to volunteer with don't know if they have room for my van. Do you guys? and do you have a generator, I can donate gas for? I need to plug in occaisionally to recharge my battery.

THANK YOU

I just stumbled onto your camp message. THANK YOU. I know this year's theme is hope and fear. My fear was going to burning man and falling "off the wagon". I want to thank you again, now I think I can go if I have the support of other sober people around me. My logic for not attending was: why send a ex-user to burning man, do you see many alcoholics going to bars?? No, cause tempation is a bitch!! SEE YOU GUYS THERE!!!!! ~~~Where are you camping??

Need C-S Campmates to Help Build Campspot

Post by areohbee » Mon Aug 07, 2006 1:06 pm

I am looking for simpaticos to help build and occupy 2-story camp structure, and I need to stay away from drugs / alcohol. Camp structure will be ceremoniously burned at the end of the event.

I am willing to do pre-trip preparation my self, or with some help, but definitely need / want others to share the work / fun at Burning Man.

Plans are available at http://robcole.com/personal/burning_man/KumUpAnce.swf - let me know if problems viewing.
Shower: http://robcole.com/personal/burning_man/Shower.swf.

My vision of the "perfect" companions:
- 4 to 6 total people, including me - some gals, some guys (I am a man).
- people into pushing their envelopes who delight in others doing the same.
- people who love people who are unlike themselves.
- considerate and respectful of other camp-mates, e.g.
- tidy up after themselves.
- willing to be quieter when someone sleeping.
- don't expect other camp-mates to do the camp-work.

My objectives at burning man:
- get my creative juices flowing, experience, participate, ...
- log a lot of hours drumming and dancing.
- connect with people.
- be able to see far and wide from the top of my camp.
- burn things.
- stay clean and sober.

PS - I went to burning man in '97, '98, '99, '00, and '02.
What's the most you can do?

Not sober, but thinking I might need to be. I'm glad you'll be there and I'd like to stop in.

Old saying...

If you think you might want to go to a meeting, you need to go to a meeting.

If you know the last thing in the world you want to do is go to a meeting... you need to go to a meeting.

I'm just glad there are friends of Doc Bob out there. For those who think they might just think about checking out a meeting... >grins<

Anyone know if that "other" fellowship meets out there, too?
