In need of a Fire Poi / fire eater camp * Help please.

Post by circusboy4000 » Sun Jul 09, 2006 1:55 pm

Hi all,

This will be my second year on the Playa and cant wait to burn it up again!! BOOyA!

I post here today because i am searching for a camp, mind you not just any camp, but rather a fire eating / fire poi spinning camp. I am a good with the POI as well as fire eating and am looking for a cap that fosters this and a place to exchange moves and skills in these art forms. I am will happley spend a day teaching people these arts as well engage in any community night burns if there is such a thing.

Hit me back if you know of such a camp or are looking for more fire spinners!

Cheers and look forward to seeing you burning! (well not you on fire, but on the playa) ;)

Tim

I doubt you will find one. Some of the conclave troupes camp together but most fire folk disperse and do their own thing.

Keep in mind that folks willing to put lit class 3 fuels into their mouth tend to be Type-A personalities. Put too many of them into a small space and it tends to be explosive. ;) Trying to organize a camp of fire performers is like trying to herd cats.

May I suggest you add a nice basket to your playa bike to hold your fire tools, fuel and safety equipment and at dusk ride out into the Esplanade and follow the flames.

Most performers are open to sharing some know-how when they are already performing. Catch them in their camp during mid day heat and you will likely be asked to leave.

Also look at the event schedule for workshops and such.

Good Luck

Hey thanks Token.

Sounds like you have had experience on this topic before, further I should have guessed that a fire based camp was too much to hope for, but it never hurts to put it out their you know.

Hmm.. well i guess the question i have then is if any one out their wants a fire performer in their camp? Willing to burn for camping space as it would seem.

HAHHA

cheers~
