Alex Graye's Psychedelic Anti-Semitic Tirade
Alex Graye's Psychedelic Anti-Semitic Tirade
Folks, I think we should be watching this one.
It ain't the hanging, it's the drop.
"A lot o' people don't realize what's really going on. They view life as a bunch o' unconnected incidents 'n things. They don't realize that there's this, like, lattice o' coincidence that lays on top o' everything. Give you an example; show you what I mean: suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness."

It makes me want to hurlverklempt on my new leather shoes. (The shoes I bought from a Jew in New York. I tried to jew him down on the price and he threw a bagel at me. Got so mad that the little hat thing he was wearing blew clean off his head. Got caught in his beard.)

Bagels? Like lox and bagels? Now I'm getting hungry. And don't forget the capers, and keep that tomato in the tray, red onion is preferred. And that lox better be smoked.
Thread drift , killing topics and thread hijacking have a long and established place on the board. Bitch about it then hijack it back or resurrect it yourself. (Unless it's a Rex / pliya post)
And beware of that Blyslv character. He keeps hitting people up for $5. I don't trust him.

Well, I told him when and where I would be in Santa Fe, but he never showed up, so I spent the money on coffee and a danish. Blyslv, you blew it.Kinetic IV wrote:... And beware of that Blyslv character. He keeps hitting people up for $5. I don't trust him.

I've got a $5 Bill, actually one of the old "silver certificates" for him if he's interested. But no, he's gotta be all stuck up. Of course the karma gods have smited him on the other board with thread punishment today...the karma gods hate universal karma imbalances and they remedy it pretty quickly.

Maybe it was meant to be Alex Grey, who is camping at Entheon Village this year at 4:00 and Esplanade. He's a kickass psychedelic artist and a gallery of his work will be constructed on the open Playa just out in front of the camp. As far as I know he is not anti-semitic.

SED, enlighten me. Why do you start threads with "anti-semitic" this and that? I'll skip the technicality that "anti-semitism refers to any people who speak a semitic language [not just jews].
Why do you reference to a religion? No one else does. Are you feeling persecuted? Are you the guardian and "agent provacatuer" of the jews in this country. Do you feel a need to inform the larger Burning Man community of any perceived threats to jews?
Rebbi started a thread concerning racism against blacks in GB. This was one time.
In general, it's a friendly board that doesn't incite flames. You keep talking up perceived racism against jews,,,and then you tell a "nigger" joke to Rebbi.
He responded in a very civil manner as befits a person who has good self-control and objectivity.
You've admonished other people to "grow a thicker skin"
Keep in mind that tolerance is given where tolerance is received.

After his chickenshit insinuations, I too commend him for this.

Only when they get offended. Nobody's bugged me very much, so I'm
not being hypocritical.

For the benefit of those who may be just tuning in, the joke and racist remark that Can't Sit Still refers to were responses that I gave to Dali Rick's comments. They were not examples of my own sense of humor or sentiments.
Dali Rick had been suggesting that such attitudes were of the past, and that Mel Gibson's bigotry was merely an indiscretion, which I considered a naive point of view.
Now, back to Woofy's algebra lesson. CSS, I'm saving you a spot in Enlightenment 101, if you're still interested.

Ok, the competition for my drama queen tiara ends now.
Getting serious there's never any justification for the use of the "N"word. I know this ain't my argument and I'm wading in where I shouldn't be. But damn people, many of us will be on the playa in 72 hours or less, or on our way. Do we really need this "N" word shit going on? A week from tonight many of us will be meeting face to face. If you have differences it can be taken to Thunderdome or something or talked out over a very tall glass of something or another.
Can we all just get along for the next week or so?

You know exactly which word I was referring to. Continue this silly stuff after everyone gets back from the playa. By the way I hope I get to run into both of you as I enjoy your posts. I'd like to have real faces to think of when I'm reading your comments on some icy cold January night stuck way in the heck out here in the stix.

Kinetic, the word that you're refering to is very emotionally charged to many people. It originally evolved from the name of the people from the area of a certain river in Africa. It was just a simple word.
Much of the negativity of this word is derived from the intense negative reactions of the people so named.
Why does this word elicit so much more negative reaction when compared to a word like "honkey"?
Is it because of the negative emotional implications of the sender or the receiver?
Some blacks use this word in reference to each other. It's entered music.
So where is the greater part of the intensity? ,,,,the sender or the receiver?
Whites don't get particularly upset with the word "honkey" Why should anyone get more than mildly upset over a racial slur?
You did a post a few months ago concerning your mother and a contractor. You found the word so repugnant that you couldn't even name it in an innocent context.
Does the word "honkey elicit the same feelings?
What about reading 'Huck Finn"? It wasn't written to be ugly. Does it now become ugly because of intense negative reactions to the lingua franca of that period?
It's a slippery subject, but I believe that the majority of the negativity is on the part of the receiver.
I don't see the Irish get in fights because someone referred to them as "paddy" This was extremely insulting at one time. They got over it.
The world is already an ugly place,,,no need to make it any worse.
But shoot,
GET OVER IT No one gets anywhere by embracing the negative.

Maybe this is a flame, maybe it's not, but CSS, you are not so ignorant as to negate my compassion. Thusly:
From Wikipedia:
Nigger
Etymology
From Latin niger, "black".
Most of the romance languages (Italian, Spanish, Portuguese...) have the word "negro" meaning "black" (in colour) derived from the Latin "niger". During the period in America's history when black workers were shipped to America to work as slaves, this word came to be adopted from the hispanic South American languages to describe a person of dark skin. Essentially, a "negro" person simply means a "black" person. Through constant repetition of the Spanish word in the American accent, it seems likely that the word was corrupted from "negro" to "niggero" to simply "nigger". The term "nigger" has taken on perjorative qualities as it implies not only darkness of skin, but a general lack of intelligence and sophistication. At the time of the word's origin, various English speaking North American settlers who set cultural standards considered black people fundamentally inferior and less civilized. The term is generally considered offensive to black people not only because it singles them out on the basis of their skin colour, but also, because of its origin, it carries connotations of slavery, inferiority and oppression.
And just so's ya know:
From Merriam Webster
niggard
Etymology: Middle English, of Scandinavian origin; akin to Old Norse hnøggr niggardly; akin to Old English hnEaw niggardly
: a meanly covetous and stingy person : MISER
