Leaving the playa early?

I've just learned that there is campaign forum on September 5th (I'm running for city council) and would like to return home in time. Is anbody heading back early to the West Coast/San Francisco? I live in far northern California (Arcata), and can make my way there easily from the Bay Area. Hitching a ride with someone going to Oregon or Washington on the 101 would be hip too.
I don't know what I'm doing.
