long story short i'm settled in arizona with a new job and a zest for livin! i know that's the worst story anyone ever told but i'm super sleepy and haven't got the energy for details

i won't be making it out next week because i just started the job a couple of weeks ago and i haven't got the funds or vacation days yet… but i am looking forward to checking out other regional events later in the year!

so here's the deal

after the burn i settled in Tucson. there's something about the vibe here that is just so unusual and relaxed and easygoing. and the mountains surrounding the city in every direction make me feel a sense of possibility - like there's always an adventure just over there, up the slope, or on the other side of that peak.

i spent the first few months just bumming around. watched way more judge judy than any person probably ought to :D. rekindled a brief affair with baked goods… and paid the price with a slightly expanded waistline!

i also managed to get back to the gym. and i discovered one of the best kept secrets of living on no income, when you have to economize, fresh fruit, veggies, beans and rice are cheap, healthy and satisfying!

the other best kept secret is that the public library has a superb collection of dvds. i've watched probably hundreds of hours of movies and tv shows. stuff i'd been wanting to see for ages. stuff i'd already seen and loved… and tons and tons of crap :P but even the lousy stuff was an opportunity to learn something about what makes a movie watchable (a purely subjective endeavor i realize)

when the cash was finally about to run out i had to get off my butt and get to searching for a job. i have to say i count myself as truly fortunate and really blessed to have found a job doing video again. so now i'm hunkered down trying to get up to speed with the new employer. it really feels good to get up and get out of the house and to go do something i actually enjoy!

and with income come frills, like internet! YAY!
so i'm freakin thrilled to be back! and even more thrilled with your collective and individual warmth!

I wish i could make it to this year's burn, but i've gotta put in my time before i can spring for vacation. I expect next year should not be a problem if all goes well. in the meantime i'll be plotting and planning and making my trips to the dollar store getting ready!
