We are still waiting to hear which conclaves are being accepted. Casanova, are you in a group which applied? If so, are you excited and nervous?

Eh, I'm not sure how I feel about making it a competition. I like spinning for the sake of spinning...
I do use one of the most unique tools on the planet, though. There's something like a dozen of them in existence, and a couple are owned by the same guy.

I'm not into competing as I'm still something of a beginner, but I'd love to come, watch and chat with some of the guys. Would be fun to pick up some tips and just talk shop with other spinners.

Re: We need fire spinners!
It isn't much to look at until you see it in use. It's basically a meteor with 12" torches on each end rather than straight up wicks. These are separated by a 5' kevlar rope making the total tool length 7 feet.
I can play it like a big meteor, poi, or individual torches with some fun transitions from mode to mode, but my favorite thing to do is to use it like a rope dart. Having grabbable torch ends open up some crazy "contact rope dart" stuff that you normally can't do. I'll half-tie an empty knot and rather than undoing it I'll throw what would normally be the "anchor" chasing after the first torch. This means the whole tool ends up orbiting my body in really weird ways and I can catch either end when I want to come out of it. I'll go from leg wraps to a neck wrap to a meteor-style pizza toss straight off of my neck, catch it, and go right into a big poi weave before letting the whole tool slide through my hands a bit and resume playing it like a rope dart.
Lots of fun.
I'm still getting better with it, but it's by far my favorite tool. My only complaint is the burn time. It's supposed to be about 3 minutes with white gas, and it very well may be, but when you're trying to do so many different things with that the time goes by way too quick.
Tedward over at Bearclaw made it. Here's the link with a picture. http://www.bearclawmanufacturing.com/st ... cts_id=272

It is a friendly competition, most spinners that come like to show off their skills and we all enjoy watching.. But we do give prizes for the top 5.

FossaFerox, I'd really like to see that, last year the winners were a diablo stick, triple poi, and a dragon staff..

Re: We need fire spinners!
Congratulations! I loved watching the conclaves perform last year, I'm not sure what was better, the performance or the look of pure joy on my boyfreind's face (he's an aspiring fire spinner). That was also the start of our very first *date*
