Ideally I was hoping to cover the playa with interlocking foam tiles. But for an 18x18' dome that adds up quickly. I looking on Craigslist daily for some carpet but was wondering if anyone has some other suggestions or ideas for flooring on the playa.
Thanks!

Heavy canvas, vinyl from an old billboard they're taking down, finished/sanded plywood boards laid out with some cut to fit...

Re: Dome Floor Options
We have a 20 ft diameter dome. Last use, laid a 20x20 tarp out, curled the edges to fit. Covered that with garage sale rugs.
The tarp by itself was too hot.
The tarp kept the bottom of the rugs dry and clean.
The rugs were cooler and felt nicer underfoot.

+1 to what 'Beams said.
It was really very cooshy having rugs under foot at night. It just says "home" to the toes and lets your feet decompress.
I am betting the foam tiles would work, but they also will trap heat. Rugs let the coolness of the ground come up, and after a few days the difference will not be trivial. And of course, they give the dust a place to settle instead of in your nostrils.

Where are you? If you're in the bay area I have carpet that I've been trying to get rid of.
