Looking for a place to clean my bike in SF

Hey,

Does anyone know of a place in SF where I could dump my bicycle and have them clean it/overhaul/make sure it survives until the next burn?
Unfortunately I don't have a back yard I could wash it myself

I know someone who used to work in a bikeshop in San Francisco, and it was their policy not to touch burningman bikes, because they could never make enough money for the amount of work. Maybe you should be looking for some one with a yard who will let you wash your bike down in it. Probably with a lawn, so the water doesn't go down the drain...

Since there's so much else on my plate I would really prefer to outsource this task, but I get what you're saying.

Doesn't really make sense because you assigned value to this task:

If cleaning the bike is a wasted day, then don't clean it and deal with the problem somehow next year.

Buy a garden pump-spray. Get a squirt bottle with some vinegar water. Go to a park and wash your bike.

Bureaucracy meaning a task I am doing only because I have to do it. I thought this specific one could be done by someone else for money.
I don't see the problem with paying someone to do this, just as I do not see a problem with having my car washed in a car wash.

"Bureaucracy" isn't a very apt term... "lazy" comes to mind though. Good god how hard is it to wash a bike? If you live somewhere so urban that you can't access a garden hose then go to a self-serve car wash.

Easy cleanup:
When hosing down the car at a coin operated car wash just set the bike next to the car and hose it down at the same time.
Just blast the chain and derailers sprockets extra well.

Jesus christ, there's a lot of kvetching in this thread.

Just find a hose and wash it down. Literally, it took me 20 minutes to clean and lubricate my bike.
Rise bike with hose. Get a bucket of soapy water (with some vinegar added) and a scrub brush, scrub the dirt off the bike. Rinse again with hose. Dry with an old towel (or let it sit in the warm sun for 10 minutes). Lubricate chain, gears, sprockets, anything else that needs lube.

DONE.
