Arriving 3 days late

Post by rddestryr » Wed Jul 05, 2017 11:32 pm

Are there any issues with arriving late? (driving through Black Rock city, parking, setting up tents, tickets etc) (and besides missing half the week).
My wife is working the medical camp and we have a spot there, but can't get time off to arrive until the 30th.

Sorry you'll miss the first part of the Burn. You'll be fine.
Everyone is so politically fucked up that they're segregating themselves in the name of equal rights and liberation.

some like arriving later, in that traffic is not nearly as bad. No issues with it at all. Remember, drive in , find your camp and park. Other than that, it'll work fine!

There is no "late", you arrive when you arrive. Relax, it's just Burning Man, and no one could see everything in any given year even if they were on playa from the first second build started until the last second of clean-up. Enjoy the time you have on playa. :D

You'll have much less of a wait to get in, which is nice. :)

You'll want to make sure your wife's camp knows how big a footprint your camp will make, and tells you approximately where to go (next to what or whom).

I recommend coming in during the day, or during a time where the camp's Placer knows you will be coming, approximately. It will help ensure you're not forced to sleep in the car before finding the place to pitch your tent. For example, if you roll in at 2am and no one is around to guide you--in a camp where space matters--it can be very arduous waiting until 7 or 8am for someone to wake up and approve things.

(Having a small, extra dome tent in an accessible place can help in situations like that).

Wow great, thanks for all the replies.
I really like the no traffic part.
