Hello From Fresno Here

Post by Fresnan52 » Tue Jul 18, 2017 3:16 am

Hello all,
My name is cesar and this will be my first burning man.
I am very nervous, and am trying my best to read up and prepare as best as possible but im sure its no surprise when i say im feeling overwhelmed. I am from fresno and have been wanting to go since i was a kid and seen that one episode of malcolm in the middle. I was hoping to connect with other burners in my area to talk and share knowledge and ideas, but it would seem its a rare breed here. So I am nervous not knowing anyone going into this. But i am determined to go and have a blast none the less :) cant wait to be a part of it and you all!

Welcome Aboard!

I recall that MITM. Yeah, there's no cactus. That should have been an "exposed rebar" injury, and we actually have a wonderful, real, authentic medical tent or three.

Hey there, welcome to ePlaya!
Elderberry

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Hey Fresnan! :D

It's normal to feel a bit overwhelmed--there's a lot of planning. Even I sometimes feel it.

Read the Survival Guide--a lot.
https://burningman.org/event/brc/2017-survival-guide/

Google keywords with "eplaya" tacked on. Almost every topic has been covered! . . . If you try and try and get stuck, tell us what you've looked for in vain, and we can probably help.

Welcome!

Glad to hear that you're nervous! It shows that you're taking shit seriously!

Burners are very intolerant of sparkle ponies - people who expect the world to just take care of them because they're THAT special! But if you show the spark of radical self-reliance, you'll get respect. Help people and they'll help you.

It's really not that complicated. Read the survival guide. Make sure you have transport (to the playa), water, shelter, food, transport (on playa) in that order. Everything else will work itself out. It's just a big camping trip in the desert.
