"During performance, we use a ceremonial witness, sitting in the witness chair, whose presence defines and holds the space." ~Burner William Binzen, p.71.

Whew! Just finished it, in time to meet the school bus and to send it w the beau when he leaves in hte morning on his save-the-world trip around north arkansas (I *have* to let him read it ya'll, because after reading the book I've come to the conclusion that in so many ways he is much burnier than I am. I'll never admit that to his face though).

He'll be back over the weekend or so and then I'll pass it on to LLD.

I'd like to get in on this. But I think I'd better wait until the spring after I've moved. Or I can go after, who, Sput? and I'll decide at that time if I can deal with it or not. Okay?

Okay, I sent the sputman my address.

Are there any other Canadians out there that want to share the book? It would make sense for you to get it after me to keep it in the country for a bit, probably cheaper on postage.

Fuckithead, this was very cool of you to get this going...yet another reason to crush you ;)

No sense in me keeping my copy (I hate reading books twice) whoever wants to pm me their address Rian, Sparkle or Sputnik, I work right down the street from a post office and can get it going tomorrow.

Okay, it's out of my hands.

Funny, I was on the way to hte post office and made the split decision to stop at the diversified mail shop instead only to run into my old friend Dan, a really nerdy boy in high school, real awkward and smart and kinda silly looking, but I always liked him and all. Years later ran into him, slightly less dorky this time, and I teased the hell out of him showing off my newly acquired silver bullets, a gift from the then-boyfriend adn my first storebought sex toy. He's lost all the baby fat now, soft spoken, and I'm thinking why exactly am I monogomous w the beau again?

I digress. Where was I......oh, noodle head, I was thinking today as I held that one book in my hands for hte last time about hte people who had held it before and who would hold it after, each putting their own energy into reading and marking it, and in hte end how powerful it would feel to hold it again having come full circle. Having two books circulating might dilute that in the end. Just my humble thinking, anyway.

I agree. Thanks for offering though Silken Tofu! I like the idea of getting a book that has passed through everyone elses' hands, and seeing whatever they have added to it.

This just in......The Book has landed safely in Duke's (anal baby's?) hot little hands! And from the sound of his message, he'll be through it sooner than not. Nothing is standing in his way: rain sleet or snow, work, smoke breaks (well a couple), or food.......he's going for gold! Go Duke.....Go Duke....Go Duke.......Yay!

Thanks for the update, Giggs. When I was in Seattle I was talking with someone (Tisha?) about getting the eplaya Perpetual Copy into the author's hands at BM 2005. That or the BM material archive. On the other hand, we could just burn it. So many choices.

I am getting kinda itchy to see some digi photos of the book as it makes its rounds--Lampie, you there?

i think its a fantastic idea to track down brian doherty at bm '05...maybe everyone who read it should get together and do a little presentation to him...i was tellin gigs ive never had the desire to contact an author after i read one of their books...but for once i really do
well...back to my room to read more...

LLD, do you still have this, or has it moved on? I know you were out of commision there for a while and that probably slowed things up. I think Rian was next on the list.

dang, i had to dig deep to find this!!

so - first of all: WHERE THE HELL IS BUCKET'S BOOK??? Does anyone know Lamplighter Duke? Can we track him down and get him to send the book on?

Secondly - I was just given 'The Black Rock Desert', by S.W. Sessions (1985), and was *fascinated*. I read it in one night. It's a great history and geography of the region, including Indian wars, the murder of Peter Lassen, wagon trains having one helluva time crossing the playa, and the location of THE BLACK ROCK. There was even a renegade Indian called "Black Rock Tom". He woulda fit right in with us!

dug it. makes me want to give guided historical tours next year...

This is not a commercial for his book.
I would like to hear other people's opinions on it.
I enjoyed it, the book filled in some holes and opened new ones.
I've been to BM 6 times and will be returning.

I thought I already commented on this book but I guess not.

This is an incredible book, especially if you are REALLY into Burning Man (explains a lot of stuff) and it is incredibly well-written. I'm about to finish it with the epilogue and I'm sorry that it's over.
It's what you make it.
