Fuck...it's like I can't peel myself out of my house for even good reasons. I just want to be alone for a while. I had such a fucked up 10 months, that I feel like I need to convalesce for 3 weeks. I've been holed up for a week now, and it's actually beginning to feel better...my heart, that is. I can't seem to get any of my grownup chores done outside, but my house hasn't been cleaner since I moved in.

whoa. fuck.

i was hanging out, googling the old family name... found the usual stuff.. the cousin who did iron man, the father who's a teacher, the pic of my grandpa as a WWII pilot, discovered that my photographer cousin is in some 'seattle models guild'...

then found an in-air pic of my uncle, KIA in Vietnam, piloting his own plane....

i have no clue who the person is who went looking for it, but they MUST have known him.

fuck.

Hey, I was born in Ogden, at the old St. Benedict's on the top of (I believe) 36th Street.

Both my parents graduated from Ben Lomond; I went to school in southern Utah (Cedar City) but then did college at the U of U.

Six years later I returned to Ogden and wrote for the Standard-Examiner for many years. My son was born in the New St. Benedicts in Washington.

I graduated from Seminary.

I guess you could have called me a typical Mormon. I even taught Sunday School. Then came the Equal Rights Amendment and Phyllis Schafly and all that. I asked my bishop why the church was so against it. He told me that in his view men and women ARE equal, that marriage is a combination of equals -- everyone gets one vote on everything.

I asked "What happens in the case of a 1-1 tie?" and he harrumphed that in THAT case the man has the tiebreaker because he has the priesthood.

I never went back, and was with Sonia Johnson (a well-known Mormon heretic, well formerly Mormon, I guess) and other women who chained themselves to the White House (hell of a lot of good THAT did) in protest of the expiration of the ERA's ratification time. I was also with them on the final day of the fight for the ERA when they (I watched) flung blood (I think it was something else, but was awfully realistic) on the steps of the National Archive Building. As a funny side note, I was in Washington that summer because I was doing an internship for Orrin Hatch.

We (my first George) left our home in Kaysville in 1992 to move to Washington where I had a real job.

I feel like that right now. Or well, I did this morning. I feel better now... at least well enough to should FUCK from the bottom of my lungs.

Sounds like you'd get along well with my freshman English teacher...who graduated from BYU, did some personal research, asked some questions, didn't like the answers he was given, and formally requested to be excommunicated.

Did I mention that he was my instructor at a Catholic high school?

Reading "Under The Banner of Heaven" by Jon Krakauer was a real eye opener for me. Buy it. Another was a book about the Mountain Medow Massacre not sure if it was the one by Juanita Brooks or the one by Sally Denton, so get both ... man the stuff that happened!

Did you know that memberes of the Powell expidition down the Colorado River were murdered in the Parowan, Utah wardhouse because they were mistaken for federal agents investigating the mountain medows massacre where a wagon train of emmigrants to California were slaughtered by the Mormon population before they could tell their stories of things like polygamy to "the Americans"?

Amazing stuff. Joseph Smith was a huckster. I wish his wife, who split from the LDS church to form a separate branch, were still alive to tell the story.

Scary shit in those books, folks.

Here is my fuck for the week. Just today I get a message from my dad asking for help for him and my stepmother. They need some assistance finding a hotel near my house when they come to visit my family in May. Just today on the 14th he wishes me a happy late birthday and flat out admits he forgot to call on Monday the day of my birthday. Then the bigger fuck is when I get the family calendar an annual thing, they wrote a little note on the back wishing me a happy late birthday. What perturbs me is that not even did they send a card or call. I don't care who forgets and remembers my birthday except when it comes to immediate family. I make an effort to call the day of and not just leave a message but catch them home. I don't want fancy presents or hallmark cards but just something that acknowledges I exist. If it were not for my son I don't think I would hear from them. My brothers are a whole nother story.

So to my family right now FUCK!

Fuck to slow computers, and fuck to the people who make viruses, and fuck to family members who shit all over your dreams. I am sooo sick of hearing criticism every time I share my dreams with my mother. She never has anything nice to say. Never any words of encouragment, just put downs. Then she wonders why I can't be proactive and make large life changes.

Fuck, my mom is the same way. When I got out of the military back in the 80's I told her about this thing called "the internet" that they had developed that I had a chance to work with. Well, in the 90's when they decided they were going to let the unwashed masses on it, I told her that is what I really wanted to do since I already had quite a number of years of experiance with the infrastructure. She told me it was going to be like CB radio. Told me to go ahead and go out to Silicon Valley and chase a silly dream. I would surely learn my lesson and come home with my tail dragging between my legs.

Did it anyway. Dad was always my support and sounding board. I miss that man.

Gee, seems to be a lot of ex-mormons here. I quit when I was about 18, never did go to a day of seminary. The beginning of the end was when I was 14 and we were giong to discuss our futures in Mutual (wadda they call that now? Young Womens?). Anyway, I was thinking careers, teaching, nursing, none of which I was really interested in. What did we hear? Keeping ourselves pure and preparing for temple marriage.

It was all downhill from there. Sex, droogs and rock and roll.

I now swear like a sailor, but that's because I was a sailor for 9 years.

I would have been a typical mormon if I hadn't broken up with my boyfriend the afternoon of the special evening he had planned. Romeo and Juliet at WSU, roses, and I think there was a ring. Nice guy, but I was only 17. He's a music professor in PA now.

btw, the above is all out of order.

Oh, and fuck.

Fuck what a great breakfast I had.
2 pieces of bacon that were soooooo thick and fresh from the market.
a chicken/apple sausage
some scrambled eggs, toast and hashbrowns. YUM!

gosh that bacon is what dreams are made of. I was always so used to supermarket thin, no real meat on em just little bits. This was amazing, it was close to a 1/4 inch thick.
