I'm getting sucked into this trance and ambient stuff more and more. I love '80's punk and new wave but I can't focus on what I'm typing if somebody is singing, so it's often www.SomaFM.com at night.
Still, I like the jazz streams in the morning like MacVooty Radio (Sam Gaillard) at www.pocreations.com as it's a groovy coffee-sipping vibe. I also like The Mills Brothers in the AM.

Right now, it's the Snoop Doggy dog from the Jan. 2 archive. The first hour was pretty good. The second hour is looking not quite as good, but I'm staying on so I can hear the Paris Hilton song. hahaha.

It's "soul music" day here too with Marvin Gaye, "The Very Best of Marvin Gaye"
I totally love "What's Goin' On" and "Mercy Mercy Me", and of course the classic, "Sexual Healing."
Marvin is the man! His voice is smooth as silk, yet he conveys this amazing underlying power and passion. Listening to some of the live tracks, I think, "If I'd been there, and I was a woman, I'd have been screaming too."GuinivereElise wrote:yay! I love his music...
Today: Sly & The Family Stone - The Essential Sly & The Family Stone
I was bopping around to "Dance to the Music" as I was getting ready for work this morning.
...but it seemed like such a good idea at the time...

I did, however, have all the Monkee's albums as a small girl and I had a major crush on Davy Jones.

I guess this will tell my age......
When I was young I used to collect the records on the back of Post brand cereals of "The Archie's"

Schubert's Death and the Maiden, done by a string quartet.
What's cool about this particular lied is that the strident part is the Maiden singing to Death, telling him to go away, but it's interesting in that she refers to him as "lover."
Death's part is a sweet lullabye in which he states, "Be of good cheer. I'm not a brute. You'll sleep softly in my arms."

mix CD containing:
OKGo
Hamell On Trial
Ani DiFranco
They Might Be Giants
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes
Dresden Dolls

I mixed it for my sister, but I might just have to make a copy of it for her.
Giggles: Try spraying some WD-40 in your ear...you don't want to grind down those gears. Trust me.
