Ya know BullD I've found on the occasions that I've had poison oak that showering and using a bath/shower scrub that contains pumice has gone aMyself!!! because with this fucking poison oak, nobody else will.
r e a l long way as far as getting the constant itching to abate somewhat. Salt scrubs are a nice second choice - although I suggest you try getting one that's not scented as they usually contain oils.
Can't always pick these up in aisle 7 of the Safeway so you might look for one of thos hoity(sp?) skin and body care places.

Poison oak/ivy remedies
Living in the Santa Cruz mountains, where poison oak holds the soil in place, lets me suggest two poison oak remedies.
1. (warning, brand name alert) Technu is a "soap" that binds to urushiol, the active ingredient in poison oak. It is best used immediately after exposure, but helps a lot with existing patches when applied after a hot soak/shower.
2. Take a really hot shower, with most of the heat on the affected areas. It's a bit perverse, but the scalding makes the itch less severe, and may get rid of some of the oils.
I'm not a doctor, but I play one on the playa...
Also, a big crush to all kind burners everywhere!

I got some poison ivy/oak what-not on my leg a couple summers ago while I was Geocaching and ended up going to the doctor 3 times!! It went from my upper thigh to my foot..........I ended up with a infection and was put on steroids to clear it up. Can you say, "Steroid munchies"? Um, yeah......."Steroid munchies"!!
Took like 2 months to clear up. Next time I'm gonna wear pants no matter how warm it is!!
I now have Technu in my med cabinet.

So the theme this year is like a giant camp out in the desert? With people bringing lots of shit from all over? uh.. -Marscrumbs

I am temporarily immune. I lived amoung it for two years with no apparent effect. I also had it as a kid. Apparently, immunity at one time doesn't mean immunity forever. My mother gets it real bad--oozing like said.
