The best thing ANYONE could do would be to let the damn thing be. Even drawing attention to it draws the cluelsss of whatever stripe down to encroach on its habitat. Everyone will now be wanting to see what is arguably at this point *the* rarest bird on the planet next to the everglades kite and the condor.

Couldn't say much about the woodpecker, but the beaudefunct sure could talk yer ear off about it, if you could find him. His family's old farm land is right there by the Cache River.
