Detroit Area burners????!!
hallo,
I am going to BM for the first time this yr. Hoping to find someone from D-town area to help with transport of two bikes. I can pay a fee for your trouble.
Plus, it would be great to talk with others who are going from here!

Hi Phaedra,
There is a pretty large contingent in our area. If you want to come out we're having a fund raiser for the Quixotic project tomorrow night. Otherwise sign up for the MI_BM yahoo group. There is also ubercarney, videogasm and others.

It's going to be alright.
Finding Michigan Burners On-line
The Michigan Burners community has three main lists that vary in focus and content. All three lists are designed to welcome interested burners to our growing community, build connections, foster unique and unusual gatherings, and grow artistic and community participation. We welcome you to our burner world!
MI_BM is the main list -- posts on this list need to stay "on-topic" which generally means revolve around Burnign Man, Michigan burner event planning and announcements, local theme camp announcements, pointers to local arts gatherings etc. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MI_BM/
To meet your fellow Michigan burners more informally and post about just about anything please check out: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MI_BM_Fluff/
You may also want to join the fully moderated, announce only list which is the most focused Michigan burner list. This list currently averages not more than 2-3 posts/month. Subscription address:

Ride - BMan & Detroit area
Hey, I am looking for riders/drivers to and from BMan. I am in the Detroit area.
1st Option – Drive/Ride My SUV: Can fit enough
equipment for up to three people and three bikes and
large dome.
2nd Option - I Ride w/ You: If you need a person to
ride in your vehicle then I will also be interested if
can not find drivers.
3rd Option - Multi-Vehicle Team: You also have a SUV
or RV and people, and at least one more person to ride
and drive in my SUV. We form a Multi-Vehicle Travel
Team.
Key Logistics:
Water: Water will be picked up in Reno, or in town east of Reno.
Shelter: I have a 18' diameter dome, and will possibly make a 24' dome.
Food: Main food supplies picked up either in Reno, or town east of Reno.
Storage Capacity: 2002 Mercury Mountaineer SUV -V8., with towing option. Enough space for up to three people and stuff.
Commitment Proof: We will need to get actual verification of true interest, commitment, and follow up action in either case. Ability to handle multi-tasking, straight forward communication, and intense fun.

Michigan Regional Decomp Event Oct 1
All Michigan burners past, present and future are invited to the regional decomp Saturday October 1st.
LOCATION:
TimTV's dojo (Warren Main Ukiyo Dojo)
11380 Kaltz
Warren, Mi 48089
The building is about 3 blocks south of 10 Mile about 2 blocks west
of Hoover. You'll be in a "light industrial" area. Look for a line
of lights outlining the path to the entrance at the dojo.
TIMELINE (Sat. Oct 1 -- Sun. Oct. 2)
2:00 PM early entry for setup and prep, all welcome who want to help
7:00 PM community potluck (bring a dish to share, bring your own silverware and plates)
8:00 PM -- 8:00 AM various dj's, lightshows, Fire Fabulon perfomance, Chaos performance, photo sharing, hangout, Camp Happy Hour, Ubercarney's (un)Safety Town burn, 2006 project talks and much more
8:00 AM -- 1:00 PM sleeping, breakfast, caffeine, cleaning starts
1:00 PM Sunday Heroic LNT Cleanup -- all welcome, all needed
FYI:
This is a leave no trace event -- clean up after yourself even those pesky cigarette butts! If you drink don't drive home until you're sober! If you are underage, please don't drink. Fire play is welcome outdoors, please bring safety supplies. We'll have a bonfire so bringing wood or other (non-toxic...) items to burn would be great! Tents, campers, 10x10 shade structures etc. are all welcome. You are absolutely welcome to spend the whole night with us.
STUFF:
If you want to bring something big like an RV, a mechanical elephant, or a theme camp please email me directly. If you want to do something cool and interactive please do, but if it involves power or something like that please email me to work out the logistics.
Requested donation:
To cover costs of the port-o-john, event insurance and use of the dojo we'll be asking for a $20 donation at the door. But, don't let money keep you away...if you can't afford $20 come anyway whatever you can afford to contribute whether it's $20 or 20 minutes of your time will get you in the door.
See you all on the 1st!
