Forgive me if this is a naive question, but this being my first time...
Is there a good way to have fresh leafy greens on the Playa? And do any of the stores in Reno sell organic food that's appropriate to bring?
I'm flying in from the East Coast, and think I understand the M.O. for water, shelter, transportation, participation, clean-up, etc, but I'm having trouble envisioning feeding myself given that normally most of my meals involve fresh organic vegetables...
Any / all advice greatly appreciated!

If you can spare the space for an extra cooler, sounds like you need one to be your "crisper"....The first couple of days are okay for most wiltables if purchased fresh RIGHT before hitting the playa, but even good 'ol plastic veggies like Iceberg lettuce start to lose it by week's end. Maybe you should stop at the Empire Store on your way in, and see what kind of freshies they have- Midweek or later you can ride the Green Tortoise back out for 5 bucks and get a few things. (No guarantee of what they'll have- and make sure you've got your ticket stub!)

"Leafy" and "playa" are generally incompatible terms. There's a reason the "Dining at Burning Man" thread has a high emphasis on pre-packaged foods, not only storablility, but prep and waste disposal too.
I'm thinking carrots, but then my idea of produce involves either juice or Craisins.
There are organic markets in Reno, try a directory search for the addies. How are you getting to the playa? Is there someone picking you up that can take you to the stores? I'm certain you can do what you need in order to eat properly, but it will take some preplanning.

Learn to love dried fruit. I dodn't know about its availablitiy in Reno, but organic, non-suphur dried fruit and veggies will be a lot more edible by the end of the week than fresh.
As far as I know, the Empire Store does not sell organic stuff. Good luck.
