Drink Recipes for the end of the week
I have been looking for drink recipes for the end of the week, when all the good mixers are in short supply. I haven't tried any of these yet, but they look interesting! Any other ideas?
Root Beer Drinks;
AFGANISTANY WHORE
4 oz. Rum
1 can Root Beer
4 oz. Vodka
Just pour to taste and enjoy.
----------------------------------
BUCK-A-ROO
1 1/4 oz. Rum
Root Beer
Pour into a tall glass filled with ice, garnish with lemon wedge.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
DARK VADER
2 oz. Rum
1 oz. Kahlua®
0.5 oz. Root Beer
Mix all ingredients together in the above order. Root Beer should be chilled. Enjoy the DARK SIDE!!
------------------------------------
DONE FOR THE NIGHT
0.25 oz. Cream
2 oz. Gin
1 oz. Jose Cuervo® Tequila
3 oz. Vodka
4 oz. Root Beer
mix everthing except cream together in a glass. Then top it with the cream. *your gonna be wasted for the night*
------------------------------------------------------
EXTREME VALENTINE
2 shots Vodka
5 oz. Root Beer
5 oz. Mountain Dew®
1 Orange Slice
Mix all ingredients into glass. Enjoy.
----------------------------------------
JASPER COCKTAIL SODA
2 cup Lemon Lime soda
2 tbs. Chocolate Syrup
2 cup Coca Cola®
0 cup Cranberry juice
1 cup Root Beer
Mix all of the cola's together.Add cranberry juice and chocolate to the mixture.Stir well while adding cherry syrup. Pour into 3-4 glasses, add cherry, and chill for 8-10 minutes.
-----------------------------------------
LIQUID COCAINE (3)
0.25 Part Rum
0.25 Part Jägermeister®
0.25 Part Root Beer Schnapps
0.25 Part Peppermint Schnapps
Mix all four of these liquors into a shot glass, keeping the quantities of each as equal as possible. Best if the liquor is chilled before-hand or all four liquors are mixed together and shaken in a glass of ice, then strained into a shot glass. (To be free of ice) This shot hits hard, but it takes about 10 minutes on an empty stomach to feel it. (It's also not the most pallatable shot in the world, but it's definitely an experience)
-----------------------------------------------------
MANILA FIZZ
2 oz. Gin
2 oz. Root Beer
Juice of 1/2 Lemon
1 Whole Egg
1 tsp. Powdered Sugar
Shake all ingredients with ice, strain into a highball glass over two ice cubes, and serve.
----------------------------------------------------------
POT OF GOLD
1 shot Goldschlager®
4 oz. Root Beer
Mix as a single drink. Poor in Root Beer and then the gold. Sip or funnel and sit back.
---------------------------------
PURPLE HAZE #3
1 oz. Amaretto
1 oz. Root Beer Schnapps
1/2 oz. Milk
1/2 oz. Grape Soda
Add the Amaretto and root beer schnapps, then slowly add the milk. Next add the grape soda to change the color of the milk to purple.
--------------------------------------------
ROOT BEER FIZZ
2 oz. Gin
1 oz. Lemon Juice
1 tsp. Sugar
4 oz. Root Beer
1 Maraschino Cherries
In a shaker half-filled with ice cubes, combine the gin, lemon juice, and sugar. Shake well. Strain into a collins glass almost filled with ice cubes. Add the root beer. Stir well. Garnish with the cherry.
------------------------------------
SMEGMA
1 oz. Bourbon
3 oz. Root Beer
Put one in the other,
This isn't a drink to do,
its a drink to do to others.
Called a smegma due to the atrocious residue it leaves around the rim of the glass.
-----------------------------------
THE BLUEBERRY DRINK
2 oz. Southern Comfort®
5 oz. Root Beer
Put a few ice cubes into a glass add the southern then the rootbeer.
-------------------------------------
ZAMBEER
1 1/2 oz. Sambuca
10 oz. Root Beer
Mix sambuca with rootbeer and stir. Add ice
--------------------------------------------------
ZENMEISTER
1/2 oz. Jägermeister®
1/2 oz. Root Beer
Mix together and enjoy

root beer? yuck! As a professional mixologist, the only time root beer comes into play at the bar is the one made with Kahlua, cream, coke and float of Galliano!
Toward the end of the week, it seems that we have an abundance of Vodka and Gin. If we are lucky enough to still have fresh lemons, I make batches of Electric Lemonade (or, as known in my college days) Yucca Flats. Squeeze a bunch of lemons into a pitchur, add a bunch of vodka and sugar to taste. I also do this with Gin, and it's amazing how many people don't notice the difference!

Leave all the rootbeer at home...
Bring a stainless steel cocktail shaker---anything is going to taste wonderful shaken not stirred...I'm all for Bourban martinis. Mixers are for wimps. Bring more gin and single malt...life will be good

Here's my contribution - called "goombah". From the old days at Shepard AFB, Tx... (Yes, we really did make - and drink - this stuff...)
Make well ahead of time...
I bottle 151 rum
1 bottle white rum
1 bottle vodka
1 bottle Schnapps - preferably Jaegar, but others will work as well.
1 bottle everclear (the real stuff, not the watered down California version)
1 bottle brandy.
2 bottles 7 up (liter)
1 bottle Mountain Dew (liter)
1 carton Rainbow Sherbet (1/2 gallon)
(optional) 1 carton Vanilla Ice Cream (1/2 gallon)
1 bottle Zeller Schwartzkatze (white wine, german, sweet). More 1 bottle port. Cheap port is OK, as long as it's sweet, not dry. (We used to use this cheap French stuff, don't remember the name, but it was pretty... um... substantial.)
1 bottle Lancers. Same as above.
Ice - couple 3 big scoops.
Take 1 basket, large, wastepaper, mil spec, grey or O.D, with liner, plastic. Pour all ingredients into liner in can. Stir vigorously. Cover and let sit 1+ week at room temp.
Before serving add ice to chill this stuff down.
Serve punch style to your (soon to be former) friends from the can and liner. Continue until y'all pass out.
Serves a few dozen young and dumb military-types enough to feel no pain, and for "hair-o'-the-dog" in the morning...

Re: Leave all the rootbeer at home...
I always thought a "bourbon martini" was a Manhattan... >>grins<< Bourbon and Vermouth with a cherry. Yummers!!!flashgirl wrote:Bring a stainless steel cocktail shaker---anything is going to taste wonderful shaken not stirred...I'm all for Bourban martinis. Mixers are for wimps. Martinis are made with Gin (or occasionaly Vodka) with a hint of Vermouth. Shaken or stirred. And served with an olive (or maybe an onion)...
But yes, I *am* bringing my shaker. Wouldn't leave home without it! And Vermouth.

Does it have to be a metal shaker? How about one of those plastic protein shakers?Bay Bridge Sue wrote:I always thought a "bourbon martini" was a Manhattan... >>grins<< Bourbon and Vermouth with a cherry. I guess I'm a "dry" manhattan kinda girl--and to the other poster--stainless steel and ice is just magic--it makes mixers unneccessary, and with a strainer, the ice can be recycled for the next drink.....Bay Bridge Sue wrote:I always thought a "bourbon martini" was a Manhattan... >>grins<< Bourbon and Vermouth with a cherry. Well, if you're actually going to be making cocktails from Mt. Don't, I refuse to be ashamed of my impulse purchase of 24 cream sodas!

When I'm not hiding in a dark, cool box somewhere on the outskirts, wearing flourescent yellow... or traipsing amongst the dusty minions... Plan on doing a bit of that! (How's that saying go? All annhiliation and communication and no playa makes BBS a nutcase... um... never mind... too late! >>giggles<<)theCryptofishist wrote:Well, I'll be sure to drop off some for you. Apoxalypitka?
Found an almost full case of Weinhards Root Beer from last year stuck in a corner... All I need then is Black Velvet, and I can do "Near Beers". Can't tell what it's near, tho... (prolly near death...)
Stuff to add to the list - Mead. Did the Renfaire Saturday (Costumes!! Yay!!!) and forgot just how much fun that stuff is!
