i new id piss a couple of ya off on here, but camera equipment is EXPENSIVE and can break from playa dust. so unless somebody is gifting digital cameras on the playa i just dont feel right in sayin "hey dude, you wanna trade this phat nug of chonic for your skills and time and equipment" = that shit doesnt sound right to me at all and thats what i dont understand about this community.

are you all trust fund babies, lottery winners? seriously, where do you get the money to go to the playa? where do the big camps get the money to go to the playa. they throw fundraisers and advertise them on HERE. i work my ass off for the entire year to get to the playa and if feel like helpin a fellow burner out by passin some work around for cash, i really dont see the harm in it at all.

and for all of the people who just look for the opportunity to pounce on any topic that they think will make them look "smart" or "better then everybody" by cutting down another persons ideals, thoughts or pursuits, get a life! we are not all as sad and miserable as you are, no matter how hard you try and bring us down to your level, it just aint gonna happen.

I've seen relatively inexpensive clear plastic bags for cameras that let you shoot right through them while protecting your expensive equipment from the dust. Surely you can hit up your local photographic supply house or check online and order something?

Last I checked your post as originally written was a blatant, in your face commercial post. If you didn't expect a backlash you're clueless. The fact that you had 59 other posts is likely the only thing that spared you from an all out flame fest. And IMHO it's not about tearing you down, it's about enforcing what the community has already made clear that it wants...and that's prmarily no commerce. Someone's gotta speak up so a few people did. And if it brings shit down on our heads and people think they're being singled out, well sometimes that's just the way it is. You can't please everyone.

With that kind of jaded attitude (which I think is an isolated thing and not how you really feel about the whole thing) why even bother going? It appears you've outgrown the event, perhaps it's time to move on to something else, maybe jumpstart or accelerate a regional burn project or something? As for the hypocrite comment, someone needs a mirror to look in. I'd give you mine but I'm using it to try and identify and fix my own issues. But at least I know I'm not the only one with issues to work through....

(If you take nothing else from my rant take this: Get off your fucking ass and order those clear covers, then get your ass to the playa and use that goddamned camera and your fucking talents to make some fucking art. An artist that can't find a way to practice their craft is a sorry fucking excuse for an artist. Improvise, adapt, make it fucking happen. Otherwise you busted your ass all year for what? Well you see it's like this. I got my ass off the couch and went to college. And then, you know what, fucking amazing --- I GOT A JOB. And now I have $100 per month of my paycheck direct deposited into a special account at my bank juuusst for Burningman. Because I make a budget, my SO and I can go, including tickets, for $1200 a year.

I really don't believe that (real) trust fund babies would enjoy Burningman too much. At least not the one's I know.
