Why is Playa art showing up in Lexus commercials?

Forget the debate over whether people can be paid for art - they do, but that's called commercial art and it's not what BM is about at all.

The totally unique chemistry of BM is worth protecting and I firmly believe it's total seperation from commercialism is part of what makes it unique and holy. At the very least the Lexus ad is totally disrespectful of the community and represents the worst co-opting of human creative culture for the sake of commercialism.

I could never afford a Lexus anyway - but now I think they are assholes, and if the Waffle Team really signed off on the use of the image then I barely feel like they are even welcome again. This is the kind of incremental slippery slope sell-out that destroys great things.

Actually you might be surprised at how many participants and spectators can and do buy the fancy toyotas. I saw someone post once that 100k was cheap for an e-car and realized just how poor I was at that point.

When I think of all the things I would rather spend 100k on, if I had 100k to spend, a car of any sort is pretty durn close to the bottom of the list!

(For 100k it had better be armored with bullet proof glass and able to go at least 45mph running on four flat tires is all the more I am going to say.... )

For a hunnert G, you could get a Pinzgauer and restore it and have a ton of money left over! (And yeah, I will shamelessly admit I want one of those...) Or a good solid 'Mog. They ain't the fastest - but they run forever, and go anywhere...

You can be grateful, tho... at least it's not a Ford Exploder... My daughter has gone through 3 of them... Worthless... At least GM stuff is predictable.

Except the subversive paint is back. Permanently. It is now Kustom by Krylon, in flat tan. Trying to decide between black tiger stripes or pseudo petroglyphs/pictographs...and the old goddam 300,000 mile Suburban runs...dammit...now if I could only get Lindsay, Carmen and Jessica to get out of the bed and fix me some breakfast it would all be good...
