Dr. Pyro wrote:Our theme camp has about 1,100 of them. You have heard of our camp, right? Barbie Death Camp & Wine Bistro? Come by for a massage, glass of wine, and a ride on our flame-thrower laden art car. You'll figure it out.
Aah, I see. I had a feeling it had to do with a theme camp. Unfortunately as DVD Burner noted, I'm a virgin so I haven't heard of your camp.

Wine and massages combined? It sounds perfect! And flame throwers to top it all off. You will definitely recieve a visit from me.

You will be welcomed! And I am an ex-NYCer. I used to live in Queens and would commute on the F Train into Manhatten. Come on by, and we also offer Otter Pops in case you wish to cool off. We also have shade, a shower, couch, and plenty of really good people. Check out our URL under Barbie Death Camp in the Theme Camp list. See you in August!

definitely bring a water bottle with a loop on it to attach to your belt (Nalgene works great) AND bring a little cup, or better yet, a screw-top sippy cup. Many camps that serve drinks have a bring yer own cup policy.

If you bring a camera, do NOT bring a nice digital camera where the lense goes in and out of the body. The playa dust will cock it up but good. Also, the heat causes some of my things (camera and boom box) to roar through batteries something fierce.

Also, bring blinky crap for your bike and body so you dont get run over at night.

Otherwise, you sound like a seasoned veteran.

The nice digital cameras don't do that.

I'm soon to be an ex-NYCer as well. I used to live in Queens as well but now I'm in Brooklyn with the F train ^.^ Maybe I'll bring a mutilated barbie doll as a gift!

Good to know about the blinkies, I had forgotten about that. I already intended on bringing a water bottle with a loop. Maybe I'll try and find one of those cool old tin cups on one of my garage sale hunts.

My boyfriend will be bringing the cameras so I'll relay you battery and lens suggestions to him.

Thanks! =)

Tin or stainless steel is ok.. But alcohol reacts with aluminun and can make you very ill.. In the 50's they changed water canteens form steel to aluminun.. The results was a bunch of sick grunts..

I know some alcohols can react with the element aluminum. As far as beverages go, either that type of alcohol has minimal reactions or the cans are actually a resistant aluminum alloy.

I've been bringing extending-lense cameras for 6 years and haven't had a problem. Then again I don't take a whole lot of pictures (maybe 20 on average) and only take it out of the ziplock bag long enough to take a picture.

I wonder if different battery types react differently to the heat.

Lithium have to be heated so in cold they burn much more quickly.
I don't know about heat hurting nicads.
If you can, you should be using lithium.
Alkaline don't cut it for cameras.

My advice is to buy a cheap film camera.
Fuji has an underwater disposable for $8 and there are cheap marine reuse cameras or you could get an older 35 mm.
The underwater cameras should handle dust.

It would be a shame if I had to resort to self-deception to preserve my faith in objective reality.
