Quiet generator
Quiet generator
I have an EU2000i and no power-consuming project to go with it. If you have a cool art project and have been putting off buying a generator, or only have a nasty noisy old beast I might be willing to loan it out.
Send me a PM for more details.

Hey Dork
I have had a hard-on for that very machine for a while, and just had a dificult time throwing down as I most likely would just use it for one week....
I will be bringing my electric golf cart, and decorating it with lots of lights,
I was planning on getting a few extra batteries (deep cycle) to power the lights, but that would take up some much needed real estate, and limit the cart from potentially 8 people to 4-5 max.
If you are willing and able then lets talk and see what we can do.
Mad Love

Well,...
I'm currently shopping for a generator to purchase, so this caught my eye...
Inverter technology is well suited for the radio transmitter equipment I'm bringing up. (And the DC charger will work well with the UPS I've rigged with a car battery so I can run the station at night without having to run the generator and be generally annoying to myself and others.)
It may not be sculpture, and it may not be something to take a bunch of E and trip on, but I'm putting a lot of effort and time into programming and creating original content, and offering a live-voice (during the day, when people are in camp and more apt to listen).
I'd be more than happy to make good use of your generous offer...

If I was to stop using the subjunctive, would anyone notice?

Honda's EU Series is very hard to beat for clean power and efficient operation. The power is clean and stable enough to run laser printers without fuss, and it's been more than adequate for handling a satellite uplink. And in keeping with the green theme the EU series has an eco-throttle that automatically throttles the generator according to the load.
I've had mine for a couple of years now and other than changing the oil and air filter after leaving the playa, you just put gas in it and go. It's run through playa dust storms, been caught in golfball sized hail and it just keeps going. If you do an eplaya search for Captain Goddammit's posts he should still have a link to his way of connecting an external tank. That trick let me keep the unit running for 9 days straight at near max load without fuss. In short...the damn thing just works. They ain't cheap though...the EU2000i is about $1000, definitely do some comparison shopping if you go buy one. Anything above $1100 before tax means you're getting fleeced.

It's still showing up as $1000+ in my area. Maybe it's something your local dealer is doing, or mine just haven't caught up yet.
I got mine second hand but basically unused (guy bought it for his RV, the same day his wife rented out a space for the RV with full hookups) for $800, guess it wasn't the great deal I thought it was. Oh well! No sales tax, at least.

wow - perhaps you've answered my prayers!
I'm sitting here trying to figure out how to find information about generators for burning man because I need to get one to light up my ART PROJECT this year...
I've been to bm 5 times, this will be my 6th, and I've never experienced the event from the point of view of a working artist. I decided I wanted to do it this year and have been working on "Canopy" ever since. (I've already submitted the artwork to the Artery, etc.) I'm basically making a 10-15 foot tree out of PVC and recycled pendant lights and need to illuminate the pendants - there will probably be around 75 bulbs and so I will need more wattage than what your generator puts out but at least that would be a start.
so far I've only been researching renting one and it's expensive!
let me know if it's still available and if you want to chat more about my project and the details behind it (construction, meaning, purpose, etc.)
thanks so much - you are what bm is all about!

my boss bought one of these two years ago for his boat.

It works and looks just like my yamaha ef1000is,but
side by side , it is a bit quieter than my yamaha.
I paid almost twice of what he paid for his KIPOR.

I'm taking Viagra and drinking prune juice - I don't know if I'm coming or going.
