Playing music, and finding jams on the playa?

Post by scathontiphat » Wed Aug 08, 2007 9:13 am

hey all. First post, and first year. I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me on what the music scene is like out on the playa. I'm a musician, and was thinking about bringing a djembe, cajon, or some other hand drum. I was hoping that I could stumble upon various gatherings of other musicians, and start jamming. Will I be at all successful in finding some jamming mates by just walking around? Are there places that musicians usually congregate?

thanks for any responses!

The swirling winds are alive with wandering herds of djembes and assorted mythical beasts. The drum tribe is legion.

Yes! to the first question.

Yes! to the second one. There are spontaneous drum circles in Center Camp almost all the time with other type of instruments jooining in.

Hope you have a fantastic time out there!
