What exactly to do at BM?
What exactly to do at BM?
Just trying to imagine what our time at BM could look like.
Walking around and looking (taking photos)? Sure.
What else?
[or one could put it like this: "How to fill your time at BM properly (not to get bored)?"]

Um, you'll see. There's plenty of interactive camps which offer activities, and plenty of art which demands you play with it, and well, yoga and dancing and playing and talking to people, I really like the talking to people bit. My art project allows people to adopt art and take it home, others have workshops where you can make things or learn a skill or ..... egads, there's so much to do you won't be able to do/see a tenth of the city! Explore! INvestigate! Strike up conversations!
Bring a nice thick book, you can use it to weigh down things in camp in the wind, but I guarantee you won't read it.
And if you actually get bored, go volunteer, ask at info in center camp who needs helping hands, that's half the fun.

Every year I bring my camera. Every year I take about two or three pictures.
There is far too much to expierience without a lense in front of you (but at the same time, I am ever thankful that Karine takes lots more pics than me so that we can both look at them and say, "Oh, oh!!! Remember this?")
Oh... and I've found a good general rule is, if you are within earshot, ask permission before taking someone's picture. Its just the polite, respectful thing to do.

You wont be able to do 1/3 of the stuff on Playa.
Check this link http://playacal.burningman.com/week.php?date=20070827
this is only a portion of what goes on on playa. I find stuff I want to do, and use that as a guide, I then run across so many spontaneous things to do - Boggles my mind.

No strategy survives contact with the playa...
Jane, from the tenor of your questions, i think that you could pick up a lot of what you're after by checking out some of the areas found on *this* index page:
http://eplaya.burningman.org/index.php?c=29
On this index, you'll find pages for Theme Camps, Art & Performance, Open Discussion, and various other pages where people are talking about what they'll be up to, what they hope to find, what they hope to present, etc etc.
The thing to bear in mind is that there will always be something interesting going on. So you can scope out maps and listings and try to plan things out, and then discover that your plans will not go exactly as planned because that's how these thing go.
Or you can just wander around and see what you can find, resting assured that you'll find *something*.
Or you can do both, structured improv, hitting planned events where possible and interacting with the flow the rest of time.
Once we realise that, for every activity we do, we're missing 10 others, we can let of go of worrying about what interesting fun we're missing by having some other interesting fun. Nobody can do it all...
It sounds overall as though you're trying to figure what to expect. Other than setting yourself up for success by keeping hydrated and healthy, i personally would skip the attempt at forming preconceptions. No matter what they are, they won't last...
Good luck and enjoy!

Besides walking around taking pictures, I would try to drink other people's booze for free, see how many trinkets you can collect, don't forget to support the local coffee shop(!), keep your cellphone charged, check your email with the WIFI network, give and/or receive a dozen creepy hugs a day, try to find out how many people you can get to feed you.
Young naked people love their pictures posted on various websites.
Complain that the infrastructure isn't what you expected it to be.
Don't drink water and leave the hat at home.
Remember you are there to consume the energy that others have brought, you must be unstinting in your pursuit of gratification and ego massage. It's all about you.

One year after partying till 4-5 in morning, I decided to go for a bike ride around noon. I'm not sure where I was exactly, but I got a little dizzy and fell off my bike. People at nearby camp were so friendly they literally dragged me into their camp, when I woke up in reno, I really missed the fun time I was having.
My point is this, have fun and just let the party take you where it takes you!!

so the question of what supportive roles are played and what is supported
visions are variable in purity
consciousness is not free from impactions
however the drastic change and loss of signs of afluence
tends to leave people openminded enough for you to prove yourself
or not
depending on who you wish to expose yourself to
and how and why
