I wasn't sure... I sent him a PM just to clear things up.
As far as my brain goes, if it's not being spun up chasing or running from twisters and large hail it's being waterlogged. This place looks more like swampland than cornland of late.
Anyway I'll shut up and let the thread get back on track.

Ya Know............. I was thinking......
Ya all have thumped your own "why this doesn't make sense as a camp" trivolities in here.....
Is there any reason this thread can't just stand on it's own... for those interested..... they are out there, and may enjoy this space..... For those that choose not to participate in such a camp..... Well, don't..... It's Burning Man.................
All inclusion allows the narrow-minded as well as the all-knowing to participate......
But whom is narrow and whom is all-knowing, depends on one's personal perspective....... as always, thru the shaded glass....................

OK, I just can't leave well enough alone.
My picture of Jesus is that he was a radical reformer, non-violent, apolitical, probably influenced by Buddhism, and he was persecuted by the religious establishment of his time. My guess is that he would be appalled by the crap that is done in his name. I could be wrong about any part of it.
What if those who call themselves christian believed more in the teachings of Jesus (e.g. sermon on the mount) than in the misogyny of Paul?
What if the christians noticed that the miracle of water into wine was an implicit blessing of psychotropic substances?
What if Jesus was really gay or bisexual or even polyamorous?
What if the admonition to Love Thy Neighbor inspired a sex camp?
Just asking...

I'm going to take a minute and post a public apology for my comments in this thread...I've had people PM and IM me that said the way the posts came across was wrong...I seem to be promoting religious indifference or intolerance and that's the last thing I want to be associated with or am known for.

While we're at it, I also wish to retract my snarky, lynch mob inspired comments from earlier in this thread. Everyone is welcome. Just don't try to sell me stuff I don't need or want. Thanks!
A plan is what you vary from.
Destiny Lounge 3D will be at Bradbury and 3:15 this year as a part of the 404: Village Not Found group of camps! Come see us!

At least we can all agree that Mormons are a bunch of developmentally disabled shitbags..........right ???
We have an obligation to make space for everyone, we have no obligation to make that space pleasant.

aye aye on the mormons Cap'n...
Palmyra, the Birthplace of Mormish, i mean mormonism, is 20 miles down the road...
i'm well aware of the scourge on rational though known as the Book of Mormon, and it's obviously stupid followers.
Moroni......um, yeah...
the thing that REALLY bothers me, the thing that just gets my fucking hackles in a bun, the shit that makes me wanna violently rage is that they are SO FUCKING NICE!
i cant stand it....they are perennially cheerful, civic mided, seemingly happy family oriented folks.
who are insanely stupid.
why?
it's the multiple wife thing isnt it....Ol' Joe had a taste for the Flesh, and he liked to make up laws retroactively (like the Bush administration) TO SUIT HIS CURRENT FANCY.
or maybe it's the white suits you get to wear in the all-white temple.
or maybe it's the promise of your own planet after you die (i shit you not, this is not scientology here, but advanced mormonics)
whatever it is, they are growing, like moss on anything that stands still in portland.
they must be dealt with before it's too late.

Let them in.
I say let the Christians come to Burning man. I mean it really is a losing battle. They come to our gothic clubs, they come to our raves, they come to our death metal shows.
They know we dont want them there but they come anyways. So let us also go to them. Let us fuck in their churches, let us drink and expand our minds in their churches, let us influence and alter the minds of their children. Let them in our churches and so will we enter theirs.

Yeah an dchristians always talk down to people about thier beliefs and i hate that!....wait a second....oneeyeddick wrote:janegirl wrote:Well, gee sir, I say, I do say that values must be to-tally ri-dic-ulous. I say Let's get rid of the principles of Burning Man. Forget about the Black Rock Rangers, can the Earth Guardians. Why there can be no proper reason for holding on to values at all!
I've developed my own values and morals, I don't need a bunch of 4000+year old bedtime stories
to guide me and neither do you unless you have been brainwashed since childhood
and are unable to break free of the chains that bind your mind.
And what in the heck do the Rangers or the dirt guardians have to do with christain (or my) values ?
Its really much more the eplaya than the actual playa where you see this. Its actually the typical internet scenario where the anonymity of the net allows people much more freedom to express their actual bigotries than they would in person. Youd like to think it might be different on the burning man internet but....thats wishful thinking. People are people so why should It be...I would asuume you arent so asshol-ey.blyslv wrote:I guess bashing xtianity is the last refuge of the bigot.
Radical inclusiveness indeed.
I've always thought that meant trying to stretch yourself to understand, or at least respect; the Other. But it seems to have devolved into an echo chamber for people who agree with you.
Thats right, im a songwriter.
