I live in Austin, and I'm a Ph.D. grad student in finance here at UT. I've been unable to go back until now. I was hoping to meet some like minded people in the Austin area to talk about all things Burning Man as well as on the boards.
A quick introduction to myself:
I'm a kind of regular, professional type guy, with a serious oddball streak and a serious passion for doing off-kilter stuff. I really like building things: treehouses, platforms, catapults, camping superstructures, beds, whatever. I also like showing off stuff and organizing events. I'm not really the classic Austin hippy, by the way. The "Inside the Loop" Houston scene (where I used to live) is more my style. I relate more to those professional types who work suit-and-tie engineering jobs, and just happen to drag two front-wheel drive cars out into a field in order to cut them in half, weld the front ends together to be able to drive it in both directions, and then go back to the suit-and-tie.
Anyhow, I'm a bit late in getting around to it (I didn't know if I was going to have the week open), but I want to meet some people who might be interested in forming a group to build an installation of some kind, or to just to talk about it.
Thats-a bout it, I guess. Signing off.
