McCain has publicly stated he didn't know anything about the economy and he is doing a grand job of proving it! I think he would have been better off just sticking to that and surrounding himself with great advisors; Americans could relate to him saying that he didn't know and he would make sure that he put the best available people to work solving the problem much better than they can swallow his trying to fake it. But how he chose to handle the situation speaks directly to his character. LIAR!

That's quite a stretch.....but he WAS their lawyerHis strech is that Obama was there lawyer..
Of course, it could be that $800,000 he gave them that might be a link as well.
And AIIZ, what is McCain 'lying' about? He put forth a stupid idea--how is it a lie?
And, gods, if you think the Times isn't leftist, I'd hate to see what you do consider leftist.

It's an OBAMA web site. Look at the e-mail address listed there.AND: you don't know that "Fight the Smears" is an Obama supporter web site.
And as far as I'm concerned, that makes it no less legit. Actually, it makes it more legit, as it's from the horse's mouth, apparently.
And I'm sure jkisha knows it as well.

Yes, I did know that. He set that site up months ago when the mud slinging began; and he made it well known and it was discussed on all of the news networks.
The Obama campaign was determined to answer EVERY LIE and misquote that the McCain camp was going to deliver. The decided early that they were not going to allow the republicans to swift-boat him the way the did to Kerry.
Thanks betrdanevr.

Here is that divide again. But now it's gotten bizarre. That Obama knows a respected member of his home commonality..
Normal people don't consider unrepentant domestic terrorists 'respected' or respectable. And, yas, I said normal.
The man DID bomb innocents. DID, not maybe, not allegedly, DID. He talks happily about it whenever the chance presents itself.
A lot of people on the left seem to have no problem with domestic terrorists, be they Ayers people or ALF/ELF, Panthers, or whoever.
You don't see that on the right. Now some will argue that there ARE people on the right that see no problem with terrorism(though I consider most of those statists whose socialist ideals are colored by racism), I'd have to say that there are--way out in the fringe. Crackpots and lunatics whose opinions are as valued on the right as the opinions of...well...the left. They're viewed as freaks.
But on the left you've got domestic terrorists as opinion makers, you've got mainstream newspeople and politicians excusing them.
The right cheered when Timothy McVeigh got an express ticket to Hell--the left fights the conviction of domestic terrorists on their side(and AIIZs' favorite counter example--that nutjob abortion bomber--was hunted down by the same rednecks he thought he was acting on behalf of).
It's like you all just don't get that calling Ayers respectable shoots your credibility to shit.

WAS is right. Obama DEFENDED ACORNs vote fraud. And then his campaign gave them 800,000 bucks to aid in their demonstrably often illegal voter registration efforts.
You REALLY don't see the problem with that?

nice change of subject, but lets get back to AYERS, as that seems to be a thread that McCain is clinging to.
So, what about Menachem Begin?....Domestic Terrorist?
should anyone who associated with this psycho be called to the carpet?
oh wait, that would be every world leader who was alive during his tenure.
Ayers is worse than a red herring, it is a true piece of NON-ISSUE.
c'mon, even the most jaded of jaded knows this, and we all can smell the fear that is emanating from republican pundits and supporters alike.
it is only a matter of time....a few weeks actually, and all of this will be over with....Obama IS going to win, perhaps you should start being gracious now, or be perceived as an idiot later.

yeah, so did Menachem Begin.
But Ayers group never bombed (killed) any people. The only people the weathermen ever blew up were themselves.
Personally, I think I understand why they did what they did. I don't especially condone it, but I am certainly not going to condemn him for it this many years after the fact when he was never convicted of any crimes. And I'm glad he has the courage to stand by his convictions.
The tenuous association between Ayers/Obama is a non-issue.

I'll give him/you the courage concept, in that a person who takes responsibility for actions and holds them with beliefs and stands up for them has integrity, in that sense.....
I guess you forgot to add Clinton to the mix of bombers?

But I don't think that is the point. First, the more involved you become in your community or in politics, the more people you come in contact with. You don't usually investigate the backgrounds of these people under normal circumstances.
Ayers was a mover and shaker when it came to getting things done is education. Obama was a community activist. So the two met. So what?
They didn't become bossom buddies; they didn't get together to reminise about the 'good ole days' when Obama was eight and Ayers was making bombs.
These interactions were normal and expected. To me, this seems logical, no mystery, no conspiracy, no guilt by association.
End of story.

geeze, I got it, I got it.......hahahaha double post........
I agree you don't check everyone out.......
I think sometimes I just point these things out, because, I feel one side gets slammed and the other gets a pass, on, the same concepts.....just pointing out the "paint with the same brush" concept........
Again, I come from the "I don't trust any of them" side, and, wish there were a "none of the above slot" on the ballot..........As I can create with the write-in option...........
And, with all politicians, I see the tendency to first deny, then admit limited details, then, come clean with all the info, and, use the "ok, I'll admit or come clean, once I know you can prove it" attitude.......
That's not to say I think someone should stand on the stump and tell everything bad they've ever done, inhaled, whatever in a litany of confession.......
But, if confronted, be totally transparent and forthcoming.....it'd go a long way towards believability, and, I can respect anyone who's made mistakes, etc, as long as they don't treat me like the incompetent fool (perhaps I am) and think I don't care or understand......

Wait, by saying Begin is a bomber, are you all talking about actions ordered by the government in power against an enemy?
Because thats not terroristic bombing. I don't consider the actions of terrorists to be on a par with governments acting in times of crisis.
That you might is just......wrong.

It is unfortunate that we have come to this in politics in our country and that people feel that it is only a choice between the least of the two evils. Maybe it is, but I'm tire of feeling that way and I want a candidate that I can trust and believe in.ygmir wrote: I think sometimes I just point these things out, because, I feel one side gets slammed and the other gets a pass, on, the same concepts.....just pointing out the "paint with the same brush" concept........

Politics by definition is a game and the person that can play the game best should be the one that can do the most for the country. What 'we the people' need to do is let "our" politicians know what the rules of the game are.
You know, John McCain really said it best at the start of his campaign, when he said that you only attack a person's character when you don't have anything of substance to say on the issues. Now that his message on the issues is not resonating with the people, and he's losing, he has tossed all of his guiding principals to the wind.
For me, that is the ultimate judgement on his real character and strenght of his own convictions.
No doubt that Obama will need to play the game; but he's young and fresh; I am hoping he will bring some integrity back to our system.
Politics is a lot like a new relationship--each time you go in thinking it's the most wonderful person in the world and you'll spend the rest of your lives together and 6 months later, it's next. And then the search is on again for Mr. right (or Ms. right). Until you finally realize that there really never is a Mr or Ms right--they are all 'not bad' and it is the work and committment that causes the relationship to blossom and last and they magically 'become' Mr or Ms right.
Yes, and that's too bad. But for me personally, I'm in the "hope springs eternal frame of mind" and McCain just comes accross as a bitter, old, angry, lying looser; and Obama is feeding my 'hope springs eternal' mind set.ygmir wrote:And, with all politicians, I see the tendency to first deny, then admit limited details, then, come clean with all the info, and, use the "ok, I'll admit or come clean, once I know you can prove it" attitude.......

well, JK,(Pollyanna) good on ya for the "hope springs eternal" mindset.
sometimes I wish I were there........
I just can't see any of the national and even world politics and actions being as simple as what we are "fed" via any and all news outlets.........
I think there is much more chicanery afoot than we know, or is ever known.....
I don't blame all the news services for inaccurate info, the ones who are truly unbiased (not sure who, but, I imagine some try at least), can only report what they find out.......
And, it is that which has driven me to reject what I see in tv spots and soundbites, staged "debates", letters, and computer generated phone messages.........
To begin to do what I think will matter, to me and mine.......
And, that is be more "local" in my thoughts and deeds.
Help someone in my town. Volunteer at a school. Donate to the local charity........
I still think my vote matters for local issues, the ones that effect me directly, and, even on a state level, I feel I can have a very minor influence, since, the representatives are somewhat available.........
But, for me, nationally, I'm just checking out.........staying "adaptable" to try to survive whatever they throw at me........and hoping to see someone there do what's right (as I term right anyway).......
I don't see either of these candidates filling that need in me.......(and really, when I boil it down personally, for the same reasons)........not specifics, but, generalities........
It is wonderful to see all the opinions posted here, all the eye poking, head slapping, whoop, whoop, whoop, type of fun and shenanigans......
But, to take it personally or even as fact........well..........
Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.nyuk nyuknyuk.......(snapping fingers and giving the "high sign"......)

Me too. Being in California, we don't get near as much of the McCain attack ads as McCain has realized that CA is lost to him, so he's not wasting his money here. And Begin......?Bernadotte was assassinated on 17 September 1948 by members of Lehi, a Zionist militant group sometimes known as the Stern Gang. The assassination was approved by the three-man Lehi 'center': Yitzhak Shamir, Natan Yellin-Mor, and Yisrael Eldad,[28] and planned by the Lehi operations chief in Jerusalem, Yehoshua Zetler. A four-man team ambushed Bernadotte's motorcade in Jerusalem's Katamon neighborhood. Two of them, Yitzhak Ben Moshe and Avraham Steinberg, shot at the tires of the UN vehicles. The third, Yehoshua Cohen, opened the door of Bernadotte's car and shot him at close range. The bullets also hit a French officer who was sitting beside him, UN observer Colonel André Serot. Both were killed. Meshullam Makover, the fourth accomplice, was the driver of the getaway car.[29]

Is ANYONE concerned with all this vote fraud stuff? I just saw a video in some college site called palestra.net or com or something, that showed how members of this voter registration group called Vote from Home, while registering people in Ohio, also registered themselves--and recieved absentee ballots--even though they do not live in Ohio.
And Mickey Mouse registered in Orlando by ACORN?
This is scary.

funny how ACORN, et al, will complain bitterly about "stolen elections", and then commit voter fraud.
I've seen it here in CA , where the politicos buss illegals into an area, fraudulently register them, and, of course, they vote.......
I'm sure there are plenty of examples elsewhere, dead chicagoans voting, mickeymouse, etc.........
They'll justify their actions referring to some transgression by "the other side", and say they're just trying to "keep up" or whatever.......
