Those who have actually Participated at BM!
Did you just just showed up because you saw or read about BM in a magazine or on a TV show?
Went from bar to bar just for free drinks. Took lots of pictures of young girls to show your buddies some Tits!
Or did you work to find your costume, your art big or small, volunteer on moop duty, help built or destroy the city?
Lets hear your side of what being a Black Rock City means to you!
Or go Home!

To answer the questions in order:
No, no, no, "being a Black Rock City"?-- I am not certain I understand that one, and I can't go home, since I am at work and they frown on just suddenly leaving without permission.
Your turn!

Black Rock City-zen is what I meant!
Once I was one of the few that showed up at a Meet & Greet in playa dress after a year of people bashing those that didn't participate!
I've work for the DPW several years staying a week or more in the process after the event.
Done Ice crew almost every year.
I bring a bottle of my finest wine to leave at some bar to share every night!
Shared my art in a past entity called Piss Clear!
moop crew
cleaned the ashes of the man
shared my talents for others to hear and enjoy as a musician.
hand out or offered a cold beer to all those that walked near camp.
Spend days looking for that right playa dress
did I say moop crew
I took a cruise with CaptainGodDamnIt in his boat- now that's participating!

No fair! The only year I have been able to make it, Capt. Goddammit didn't show up!
How was I supposed to take a ride with him if he wasn't even there?
I refuse to believe in Captain Goddammit and/or his playa-boat until I actually ride in it! So there!
(However, I will continue to believe in the Easter Bunny, that old pagan being!)

A sarong?
And what have you done for BM?
All of you!
I accuse myself of the following crimes:
I have seduced party members of both sexes.
I've been to the proletarian areas.
I have deliberately contracted syphilis in order to spread the disease to my wife and other party members.
Together with other agents, I have counterfeited bank notes, wrecked industrial machinery, polluted the water supply, and guided Eurasian rocket bombs to targets on airstrip one by means of coded radio signals.
I stand here a victim of the influence of Emmanuel Goldstein, guilty on all counts, and that I was caught, I was mentally deranged, now I am cured.
I ask only for you to accept my love of our leader.
I ask only to be shot while my mind is still clean.

Ah, it is what I haven't done that really counts! I haven't thrown anything down the porta-potties other than my bodily waste and single ply toilet paper. I haven't dumped a lot of MOOP on the playa. I have actually spared women and children the mental trauma of seeing me shirt-cocking, much less completely naked. I haven't set anyones tent on fire while they were in it. I haven't driven a bulldozer at 65MPH through the city, at night with no lights on while blind drunk. I did not set off a fuel-air explosion in Center Camp without warning. I did not divert the Colorado River onto the playa while Burning Man was at its peak (darn cheap shovel!). I did not, that anyone can prove, set Larry Harvey on fire early. I did not hand out feather boas to everyone right after they passed through the gate. I did not lace everyone's water with salt. I did not-- (no, wait, I did do that. Never mind.) Uh, and a bunch of other stuff I did not do, at least not that can be proven in a court of law!Apollonaris Zeus wrote: We'll I don't like to call it costumes

08 was my first burn. I did some costuming, but not to the extent that I saw others do. I just wanted to survive the first burn intact. Next yr I'll ramp up the costumes. But I do think that doing that, or camp art or whatever, will take a few yrs to evolve (excuse the pun) I think it will be a continuous process.
OK, fading fast, must go to bed................
