i work for a company that builds vehicles for the dissabled, and had mentioned to a customer last year that i was going to brc. when i got back, i was grilled for details. having given him the wonderous accounts of the plya. he longs to experiance it for himself. after much thought and fact finding i have figured out how to make an accomidating camp for him!
we have almost everything in place, even a registered nurse has agreed to accompany him. what we need is 2 tickets (one for him and one for the nurse) and help with gas and supplies. he has advanced ms and will probibly not be able to make the trip if we don't do it this year! please help me to make this dream a reality for kc, he is one of the warmest and most wounderfull people i have ever met. thanks in advance[/b]

Get in touch with the Org...I wouldn't be surprised if they were willing to help out to an extent. I hope KC makes it.

Our art vehicle will be wheelchair friendly this year (at least the lower level) assuming we make the cut with the DMV. Get in touch when you have tickets and I will let you know how to find us on the Playa for rides. Best of Luck! Jafe

anybody know how to contact the glom? they run a large generator and if they would allow us to run kc's air conditioner on it it would be a big help

Have you ever heard of Hot Wheelz Camp, run by Dale and Linda, from Reno, which is specifically for the physically challenged? They have golf karts used for the purpose of transport. They are WONDERFUL people!

GREAT point Hag! Was trying to remeber Dal's name. He usually has a few carts thet he and Linda bring up specifically for the physically challenged. Rememebr though that the carts are timed in ssuch as way as everyone on the list has access to them. Not to be construed as a cart for an individual for the duration.

Heya, Isotopia! Thanks for chiming in on this subject. I assume that you have met Dale and Linda? Have WE ever met? My first year at the Burn, in 1997, was spent pushing around a great friend, Richard Louisell, dying, and in a wheelchair, to show him one of his last Great Times, and to demonstrate, from the heart, my love and respect for him, and so, ever since, Burning Man has meant more of what I can do to help OTHERS enjoy the experience versus the attainment of my own jollies.

wow someone who knows where i am comming from, but fortunately kc has 3 power chairs which we are making into art chairs and will have two available for others to use. i have placed a call to 415 to flame and have gotten no response, i have solved almost all logistics and even found a registered nurse to voulenteer her time, now all i gotta do is get him in.
btw does nevada honnor oregon's pot perscriptions?

throw a fundraiser in your local community.. it's often easy to get people to donate time and supplies if it's for a good cause.

Last year I sponsored a lady with mid-stage MS also. She traveled with me in the RV, and had the experience of her life. This year, with help of walkers and canes, she's planning on attending again. She plans on being "self-reliant", in her own tent, own supplies etc. I'll camp beside her this year with the RV so she'll have a safety net of sorts, for the "bad days". I enjoyed last year so much, escorting her to every corner of the playa. It was my favorite trip. And the next will be better yet!
