Hello All...
Lizzypin - aka Beth here. I am a newbie from North Cackalacky and I'm already psyched for the whole thing! Will likely be going solo unless my powers of persuasion improve markedly...
Have a couple leads on places to camp but appreciate any input or invites.
My strengths include my x-ray vision and ability to leap into fun with a single bound. I also do not snore and give excellent foot massages.
Hope to see any and all of you on the Playa :)

Super Powers, Huh?...
Hi Dani and Beth as Gomer Pyle use to say "welcome! welcome! welcome!
I think all your question may be answered in detail on other parts of the board. Try looking around before asking, the board is pretty logically laid out due to the great skills of the admins here (hi TP where's my damn edit button, don't give it to the rest of these guys they'll just abuse it like badger and bob always does, just give me one, I won't tell a soul...promise)
you're bestest friend,
mr smith

Hello
I'm a 42 year old artist from Federal Way, WA who doesn't make a living at art but does rake in enuff bucks at an office design job in Seattle to finance my penchant for action figures. My man is serving in Iraq and this is what I decided to do while he was gone (actually been fascinated with Burning Man for years). This will be my first burn. I'm a little scared, a lot excited. Thanks for asking...
How we live each day is, of course, how we live our lives.
well hello again!
well I'm back after a long nap. Now its spring again and I hope all the lame board drama is finished...I thought I would check in here first as I feel like I'm in a new land. So meny new peps. Ohh were to start.. well hello all some of u might remember me.
So I will become a father around the 8th of sep. So I will be unable to attend this years burn. However, I wish to remain active in this years festial. I would like to help people to orgainze, communicate, have a better understanding of what to expect and what is expected of them.
I live in Denver Colorado will be able to help travelers from the east along there way and can provide a rendeveoux point to those who might want to link up along there paths.
I have a cru of 20 kids who have been the last 5-7 years. We are always located in the loud areas as we bring a HUGE sound system, lasers, and the sickest stages. We are currently getting our camp together and are willing to have others join us. Fell free to P.M. me for contact info
Thank you all
Soon to be home again hehe

hi there long time stalker...first (second time) poster
Hello and Good Morning to all.
I am not a newbie to BM but I am to the eplaya forum. This will be my senior year out on the playa and I hope I flunk or get held back because every year I go my experience is more wonderful and strange and I am not ready to graduate or give it up. You won't see me posting too much because they keep me hopping here at work, but it seems like every time I have a spare second I am checking posts and looking for new pictures in the gallery.
Just wanted to say howdee and looking forward to this years burn. Kisses to all the lovely playa people, girls and boys and the blurred.
XOXO

Hola!
This is Sprout from down San Antonio way and I just wanted to say that I am way excited about going to Burning Man this year! This will be the first year for me and the friends with whom I will be traveling. Luckily I have many other friends who are old veterans of this festival and are also going this year so I actually am feeling fairly prepared. Let us hope that this feeling does not evaporate once I reach the desert.

One time I auditioned for an Irish play and the american director told me I wasn't 'Irish' enough - so I dragged out that awful accent that they did in that Tom Cruise Nicole Kidman Irish shite film and sure enough - then I was 'Irish' enough...
Happy to give u a few pointers - u're accent is more like a southern Irish - mine is like the folks in the committments, the van, the snapper -
Ride Sally Ride....

hi!
ok, really not good at these "introduce yourself" threads, but i've been lurking for 3 1/2 yrs. this year, i'm FINALLY going to BM. really excited, and a little nervous. anyway, i'm female, married, closer to 40 than 30, and i consider myself pretty liberal. my best friend (also a virgin) is coming with me, so i won't be totally alone. i'm looking forward to seeing all the creativity, and hopefully allowing mine to bloom.
i had one question that's been bugging me, and i really have searched the forums, but i haven't found an answer that's satisfied me. when does one gift? when one meets a new person? when one decides that said new person is cool? whenever and whyever one feels like it? i guess what i'm asking is, as a newb, is there some unwritten protocol that, if i don't follow, will set me apart as an object of scorn and derision? i was thinking of doing soup as a gift, in the evening, at my camp. i'm an awesome cook (if you don't mind more garlic than most larger mammals can stand), and i thought it would be cool to cook up a huge pot of home made soup each night, and give it to people who looked cold or hungry? would that be appropriate, or would people just look at me like i had a 3rd breast growing out of my forhead?

Gifts
samdu;
Your on track with the soup idea, anything like that goes. Gifting is something that happens spontanesly as an act of love or appreciation.
The time is always right. Just keep thinking like your thinking and it will all come together for you. Keep on track, Honey.............

It's been in you all along, Dorthy...
when does one gift?
Gifting is a magical thing, and it's so not a who, what, when, where, thing, and yet it is. When it happens you'll know, the simple and selfless act of giving, can create an immortal memory. Treat every gift as if we're made of pure platinum, adorned with the finest gold, by the most majical elves in the universe. And give it as if is the first and only one ever made, and it was made specifically for that particular person that you are giving it to. Even if you have ten thousand of them back at camp, and another 200 in your backpack it's not the gift but the thoughts behind the gift, that make it special.
"I live in my own little world, but it's ok... They know me here."
surprisingly,
mr smith

Intro & Gifting
Greetings People of Earth,
My name is Gary, but everyone calls me Gilmore, a High School nickname that just stuck. 2004 will be my first rodeo, so I anxiously await my initial steps upon the Playa. “One small step for man, one giant leap for personal growth”. I participated in the Avon 3 Day Walk (self imposed forced march) for Breast Cancer and was able to push the outer limits of my boundaries. I believe BRC will do the same, but on a number of different levels (alcohol allowed for one).
Wise words you provide about gifting, Last Real Burner. I have not yet fully developed my gifting plan, but as a newb the whole experience does indeed seem delightful. Samdu your idea of soup is wonderful and caring. Please consider seeing a qualified health care professional, as even if you do not have a 3rd breast growing from your forehead, I would worry about the first two that are.

thanks, all!
thanks for all the help. this makes it clearer for me!
gilmore, don't worry, the other 2 are actually right where they're supposed to be! (well, maybe just a tad lower, due to age, but we won't get into that)
so, everyone feel free to stop by for soup when it gets chilly on the playa at night!!

I have been on here for a little bit, but waited to introduce myself until I contributed. Its been a few years since my last burn, and there were a few, but it seems whenever someone does not go they say maybe next year, then always think about it afterward. So I am going back now armed with a flamethrower, stand back.
Now for the technicals: INTP/INTJ Myers-Briggs type, subversive in thoughts, Male, 30's, Aquarious, Left-Handed...
I have been in a state of semi-retirement after achieving most of my limited dreams, now its time to develop new ones.

Didn't mean to snub ya.
I was just double checking to see if Left handed, INTP/INTJ Myers-Briggs type are the ones most likely to climb atop water towers with high powered rifles and large boxes of ammo before I responded.

P.S. BTW, Yes they are.

Armed with spray-paint cans instead.
