The Mutaytor

Post by Absolut Jeenyus » Sun Jul 19, 2009 4:40 am

So I just finished watching a Mutaytor DVD entitled 'The Mutaytor & The Art Of Change' which it says it was filmed live at Mayan Theatre in Los Angeles for the 2009 Inaugural Ball. I picked it up at a party in Oakland last weekend and I must say I have always loved The Mutayor, they have done such great performances in the past... But I really really really fucking liked the performance on this DVD. It makes me wish I was there to see that show. I'm looking forward to seeing them soon hopefully. If I recall correctly they had a sick art car I saw out on the playa a while back... 06-07 maybe.

Anyways I just felt compelled to give them some big ups. So for anyone who hasn't heard of them, or likes good live music and performance art check out their website.

As you were...

Wow you got lucky and an extra head. Bet you're really smart now!

It's good to hear a great band on the playa and worthy of carrying on where Medicine Drum had left off.

Has anyone heard of recent news of MD. Last time I heard they were having children so they stopped touring.

Imagine a Mutaytor/ Medicine Drum concert together and on the playa!

Oh well at least we'll have Mutaytor!

I had the pleasure of meeting John Avila the bass player for Mutaytor in 2008.
After the man burned we went to the Mutaytor show in the red nose district.
After that we went back to camp at BWB to sit by the fire.
He then came by a short time later. So I invited him to sit with us without telling anyone who he was.

So we sat next to the fire at our camp with my camp mates
and a rotating cast of burners coming and going at the fire.
And watched the sun rise.
I think Risky was there.

It’s probably one of my favorite memories of burning man.

If you have never seen Mutaytor live I suggest you make the effort.

Yeah, I know, chinese dragons, wierd people that look like legos, fire and dance...and a plethora of drummers.

Seen em' many times, but to suggest to everyone to go see them if they haven't is just asking for more people to be in your way, Mozy...and you are not that tall.

I have seen it all also SO it's OK to let someone who has not...do SO.

In my humble opinion.
May not be right by your standards but I stand by it.

Just trying to get you a better view without a bunch of stinking ravers with platform boots and yarn extensions in thier hair standing in your way.

I guess you could wear some elevator shoes also ?

Mutaytor is OK, but have you seen Kid Beyond yet ?

He ususally does, although last year I was too busy to catch his shows.

I have seen him at center camp, w/Space cowboys, and this performance, at the Waffle in the past.

The Waffle?

It took so long for them to build it. they never did complete it. Did they?

Any way it was open for just a day or two before they burnt it

Too bad I missed Kid beyond probably the best show in the waffle- the biggest waste of good wood I ever seen at BM.

Don't forget the truck and a half of wasted sheetrock they had to lay down on the ground as "scar prevetion".

Straight into the dumpster with that, also.

if it was composed of at least some waste wood, id have no problem with it, but to transport the wood from norway seemed excessive. It never really burned sysmetrically and collapsed before most of it was burning. from a pryrotechnic view not a well thoughtout design.
