Rumors of bugs

I read an email that attributed this rumor to someone on the playa:

I went to temple last night (they have resorted to
working at night because of the heat) and there were swarms of bugs. It
gets worse everyday. There seem to be no pests, but plan for bugs.

Note the reference to heat, as well.

I have no clue other than this, so in your preparation be aware there may be stuff flying around at night - masks if you breathe through your mouth, maybe goggles, too? Who knows?

Not to worry. This year's large amount of desert rats (the most pernicious breed there is) are eating all the bugs and pigeons.

Fuc-Tards !!! Phil is trying to be helpful. Ok,, what ever.. DON'T prepare for bugs. But, don't come running to us when you face, hair, armpits & genitals are infested by which ever demon locust are swarming the playa this year. Ask me about the " year of the moth " in Reno.. go ahead . ask.

I dunno about bringing your cat. The notorious desert rat (ratus morbidus psychotitus) is about the size of a dachshund and is a protected species.

welll.. Cap since you asked nicly.. I will share. It was summer time a few years ago and it was FUCKED UP ! Supposidly because a warm winter did not kill all the Moth eggs or something?? who knows.. but there were billions & millions of them. We all lived in the dark at night. & they would get into our outer doorjams so when you opened the door they would piss on you & some would drop. ew!! oh, I they keep putting out the pilot light in our water heater in the garage... so every morning, guess what.. NO showers! It was awful.

I STILL have Moth piss on the exterior of my house where they were squeezing into the trim.

Our cats LOVED them too. Esp. when you dared to turn on the t.v.

On the upside, the yellowjacket population is way down, hardly any in our traps compared to last year! Mean little bastards!

I do know Gerlach gets these awful flesh eating gnats from hell in late Spring, early Summer. Especially bad at the little park where the webcam is. I've not seen them in the late summer before, however I've never been up there this time of year before...I hear it's lovely!

Humm, moth piss, I have heard of pissants but not pissmoths, have you actually watch them piss? do they lift a leg or something? really small dick?

June bugs, come on reno, you know what I mean. Roads can get slippery from all the dead bugs. The road will be wet with dead bugs.

When I was out on the playa last week the southern end sure looked wet. I did not go over and check but the appearance was dark wet playa all the way out the 3 mile road. If so that would contribute to evening bugs.

it's " Moth Excretion ". I hope there aren't a bunch of June Bugs out there. They are big and like to dive bomb. Maybe its the Mormon Crickets from Ferntucky..

There were assloads of them last year before the event. Something about the event location being closer to wherever they came from. Once the 40,000 attendees started arriving I didn't see many - I guess they were just spread too thin.

Are you sure about that? I've heard many (unsubstantiated) reports of marauding band of zombies - especially after midnight.
