That's them, but mine are black....and they have a sassy little scalloped flap over the toe. They were easy to break in, and I'm pretty sure they will keep my tootsies protected from the alkaline playa dust. Even with daily care, my toes get angry with the dust. I've not worn them on the playa, but I scooped the suggestion from Heloise. I'm a bit worried because they are insulated, but I'm hoping for the best.

My Tony Llama cow boy boots are awesome on the playa. I swear by them and plan on getting another pair before the burn if I can swing it.

As well, might want to look into getting some Dr.Scholl's heel cup inserts (any store U.S.A) when breaking them in. Got a pair of boots one year before heading out, and one of them started to rub my heel bad/start into a blister. Was worried about the impact of getting the playa packed in there, so got the gel heel cups bout' 4 days before the trip. Not only did they stop/heal the skin, they were a d a y d r e a m to walk in, actually cushioning your feet & making them feel better the more you walk...have had a pair in all my shoes every since

my ex-husband's cowboy boots have served me well for two years and will again this year I'm sure, and I just got a new pair of Docs that I'm currently breaking in (glad I got 'em early!!). Tried to wear high-healed platform boots the first year - bleh...only good for around camp. Lighweight hikers were nice for long treks during the day, less hot than the cowboy boots.

Here is the trade off for me. They are a little warm so I wear them with thin socks. I wear jeans all the time so I get very little playa dust inside the actual boot. I really like that part. The boots are cooler on my feet than my skate shoes so that is what I go with.teardropper wrote:I love my Tony Lama's, especially the snake ones, but don't know how I'd like them on the playa...motskyroonmatick wrote:My Tony Llama cow boy boots are awesome on the playa. I found that if you wear shorter boots (I prefer shorter top hiking boots) that you're likely to get dust in them. The solution I found is that if you wear slightly longer socks, and push them down to the tops of the boot so it bunches up a bit, it kinda seals the tops and keeps more dust out.
Key word MORE, on the Playa no such thing as 'all dust out'

i've been considering getting a pair of these:
i like the idea of lightweight sneakers, and the super tall boot style would probably be good for minimizing dust infiltration.. anyone have experience and/or insight regarding these, or normal chucks, on the playa?

I have been wearing some "normal" chucks out there for many years, but not every day.
Lacing them up is a muther with the gritty playa dust making the laces abrasive, but they work fairly well for keeping dust out, once you have them on.
keep in mind that your feet are a little bigger than usual out there, especially if you have been drinking alcohol, and you will have to loosen them up a bit all the way down the eyelets if you show up wearing them from defaultia.

We have an obligation to make space for everyone, we have no obligation to make that space pleasant.
Those reef's are quite handy. They're pretty trendy here, and work well for desert parties... they also have a flip flop with a plastic "flask" in the bottom of them... SO rad.epic_elite wrote:http://www.6pm.com/crocs-professional-unisex-orange
