Agree on all points. I seriously doubt if the initiation of the event could even happen these days. It was timely the foundation was laid when it was. And like it or not, the HAT was willing to compromise with society for the sake of preserving what we enjoy today. As Brian Doherty said (paraphrasing), "If the participants attend and enjoy the event without knowing the politics and conflicts behind the scenes, the only important thing is that it happens."jkisha wrote:Don't blame the Frenchman for this one. The animosity oozing from the panel at the Q&A was palpable between the founders that are now "on the outside" and those that went on to make Burning Man what it is today.
Though my take-away was that had the event not taken the direction that it did, it would have probably ceased to exist by now. Those that are no longer involved with the event are having a hard time accepting that, and have no problem expressing their opinions at every available opportunity.
Based on some of the comments, I was impressed that BMORG allowed them to be on the panel.
