I have managed to get 5 lbs of winter fat off. (Running, elliptical trainer, weights). I would like to lose another 5 to reach the weight at which I feel kickass. I am short enough for it to really make a difference in confidence and mood (chemically speaking. The estrogen in body fat literally screws with my moods).

I've been putting foil stars on my wall calendar again on the days I work out to hold to my 3x week average (4x is better, but I don't always manage). Coming off of Winter, my energy is not yet quite up to snuff, so there are a funny series of unstarred Sundays, Mondays and sometimes even Tuesdays, meaning I have to work out Wednesday, Thursday OR Friday, and Saturday. Heh. There is not a Saturday in the last few weeks where I haven't had to run.

But it's light out now, after work, which has really helped. I can run home after work rather than go to the gym.

I don't want to measure my blood pressure 'til I lose another 5 lbs, 'cause my systolic is often at high end of normal, which disturbs me, whereas the diastolic is ever so slightly low. Pff.

If this is a virtual fitness club like we have virtual bars on eplaya, then don't we need a virtual sauna and jacuzzi?

AntiM, after my workout, I usually spend some time in my club's hot tub. By the time I leave, I'm warm as hell, regardless of the weather outside.

Mr. Dougly! Yes, this is a "virtual" fitness club! And thanks for the nice picture. It is just like my bath here in Clearlake -- that is, it has a little yellow rubber ducky.

Winter will soon be over, AntiM.

Oh, you bet I hit the hot tub after the workout. Lovely. I got chilled standing in the snow with the wind whispering in my ears outside.
My mesh panel and scar tissue have been causing pain since I've begun moving again. The muscles of my abdomen have been sliced and diced enough they can't support their own weight. I'm thinking Spanx. Blurg.
We did go hit a big box for clearance gym clothes. Not that I care about looking good, but I have to have some workout stuff. They don't let you go nekkid in the gym.

There are recumbent stationary bikes now, and some even have a hand crank for upper body training at the same time. I find myself pedaling full time, and hand-cranking about half time lest I become too winded. (No jokes, please. We all understand.)

Just finished a 19 mile run. The Boston Marathon is in 22 days. Because I am such a giving guy, if any of you want to receive my complete heartfelt love, I will need a nice full body massage, several bottles of beer (Sam Adams will do, but I would hope you could do better), and you ladies, I don't want to run the risk of hypothermia, wink wink nudge nudge. So, who wants to help the poor ol' Doc out? I mean, shit, I get thirsty running 26 friggin miles; now come across with the love goddamn it or else I'll have to cry like some kind of sniveling baby, and none of you want to see that.

Whew. Home from the gym. 30 minutes of lap swimming. Granted, I am very slow, and stopped for stretches at each end, and I primarily back-kick or dog paddle, but I DID 30 MINUTES!!!!!!

I'm wiped and must take a nap.

My resting heart rate is 95~ish.

Good job! And swimming is the best possible exercise, because it works pretty much all the muscles in the body.

I run 50+ miles a week and four times a week I do 240 situps with 30 pounds on my chest, three sets of weights at four different stations. Knock off the liquor for a month (that is the hard part, and that includes all alcohol including beer and wine) and eat a lot of fish and veggies. It works for me, but then again I'm a masochist.
I'm a mad man on my bike but I can't do much more than 150 sit ups with no weight three times a week. And running, I'm good for about 18-20 miles in a week but I try to beat the hell out of myself when I'm running to make up for the short distance. I don't have the attention span to run far, so I try to do it fast.

I need to get on it ...

The first time I rode the Two Ton Tricycle in the Kinetic Grand Championship, all my leg muscles were sore for two weeks. It was an exquisite, joyful, satisfying pain!

Swam a mile last night at the Y. It's the first time I've swum in three weeks, since I "rolled" my ankle (like a dumbass, stepping down a little two-step curb) while out walking a few weeks ago. The ankle's been healing up slowly but surely. Last night in the pool, freestyle was only slightly painful, breaststroke was no problem at all, but backstroke was out of the question (way too painful on the ankle)

[Note: I know "swum" sounds weird, but in this case, it is grammatically correct. Past tense is "I swam"; present perfect tense is "I have swum"]

Also, I've lost five pounds (two kilos) in the past few weeks, just from portion control and limiting my carbohydrate intake. Woo-hoo!
...but it seemed like such a good idea at the time...

Thanks, yes the "Two Ton Tricycle" was great fun! There were three of us on it, all pedaling our best. I still have the front wheel and plan to rebuild the whole trike eventually, and for five people. (It was horribly heavy.) People tell me it "needs" to come to BRC.

RingO'Fire, I'm glad to see somebody takes English seriously! A bit to mush slopiness araund her. (As everywhere these days.) Maybe we should start an English language thread?

Yes, I'll be happy to sell you mine, identical to this one:

This monstrosity, by Exercycle, is actually powered with an electric motor. I gather we were supposed to get exercise by trying to keep up with it. The silly thing is horrible dangerous, but a collector item.
Did you see the (cheerfully hideous) "rag dolls making love" display at Kinetic Cab Company last year? That was one of these powered Exercycles.

Mom had one of those, it broke her leg. Her health never did pick up after that.

My BP was in the normal range this morning, but after doing relaxation exercises. No gym, the air duct cleaner comes this afternoon.
