That photo reminds me of a kissing contest I won with a girl once.
We totally shattered the competition.
And after what seemed a short time too.
You know the italian over the top romantic flix?
It was that.
I arrived and left with someone else, and she later said that after seeing that, I'm not jealous of V__ anymore.
Winning overwhelmingly and kissing, I could do that again.

A nice fresh breeze, blue skies, and my hand on the tiller as I blow by a friends sailboat that used to do the same to me when I had a smaller sailboat.
Cold beer in the cooler, the sound of water rushing along the hull, the sight of other sailboats on the lake
A freighter steaming by the Detroit River Light
sigh.........I really must like torturing myself when I'm at work

Excuse me Ma'am, your going to feel a small prick.

...Than "Coming Clean."
Being able to confess your short comings and screw ups and knowing the judgement and disappointment will be reserved but the love and acceptance not.
Let me explain:
My first burn was '09, I had BM on my short list and really wanted to go. Early spring I got Betsy And I Said this is it The universe has provided me with the home and transportation I need. I'm going to The rainbow gathering to Minister to the soulless hippy's, I'm going to go to the Oregon Co. Fair to Mock the Hippocrates. I'm going to music festivals to get laid. And I am Going to Burning Man because I have to. And the summer progressed swimmingly. I had friends along for different stages and traveled thousands of miles, We pooled money for Gas, Dove dumpsters for meals, and I had fun in the sun, then the end of August came rushing at me and I had just used my last gas to get to a music fest in my home county. No Ticket for TTITD and no real hope of making it. then I met this burner and told her my deepest wish and my sadist disappointment. I had hoped but given it up. But you have to go! I, we need you I thought wha? Chic's tripping. She told me to come over to her place the next day (3 miles from Festival pretty effing convenient) and there she introduced me to her crew they asked if I would drive them and their gear down there they'd get me a ticket. Well the next week was a blur and i remember being pannicy and withdrawn from these amazing people, they were so intense! so Self Sure. And as we left WeDeliver's for the last leg. I was told, "Dude We were unable to get a ticket, we spent too much on last min stuff." "but don't worry, we have a plan. We'll smuggle you in." And we gave it a go and I was discovered in an instant. and to D-lot we were sent.
all the tickets were confiscated and we were told I had to come u with $380 or no one got in, that was it. the crew dug deeper and called in pledges and we got the ticket in. The whole burn I was an outsider in our camp I felt Like Shit. until I saw the Temple Burn and I knew that was my release, those were my sins being washed with smoke. And I returned to Defaultia and began prossesing my experience and got online to ePlaya and lurked and heard these outrageous claims and baldy jokes, I Got chewed up and shat on by long time trolls. But one old Burner with a post count I couldn't even calculate would from time to time would post a reply, or quote me in Support. Ygmir was the first eplayian I really felt like I knew, and we never met.
Jumping forward to the Gates of Metropolis:
As we pulled up Tickets and pre-event passes in hand I remember thinking I bet Betsy's name was on some kind of list, here comes gate crew they are going to Rip us to Shreds. And one of the fellas says "Hey I'm Ygmir, You are Knowmad aren't you? I recognized you signature line. so this is Betsy? may we take a look?" We made small talk for a bit and were on our way in to Our Fair City."
I am grateful to you all listening to this story, it felt good to let this go. Thanks again for being a greeter Yiggy.

YGMIR is great in making people feel welcome.
There are so many others too. I was hesitant to post this because I didn't wanna make anyone feel left out but just had to.
You know who you are o good ePlayans...
I think reading all the info at BM galactic homepage (surv guide, how not to be a dummy FAQ, etc.) and cruising the board, reading the posts, getting to know the snarks and their snark-styles helped tremendously (i love the snark). Refraining from asking ?'s that have already launched a thousand threads eased the transition from freedom to freakdom.
Nothing feels better than being welcomed home!
I love Knowmad's story. Inspiring, very!

Nothing feels better than that first cold beer on Friday night, when you just got off work!

Spokane had their Pride parade a couple of weeks ago! I was working and couldn't celebrate with them!
I hope WA state follows suit. Although they passed a law about domestic partners having the same rights as if they were married! Gay or straight. I was a landmark decision.
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

O man! So true!maryanimal wrote:the first sunburned neck of the summer!! I washed my car today and my have some color by this evening! Yay!
I'm peeling just a little bit!
I'm not sure if its from father's day minor sun burn, or spending all Saturday out in the sun!
Its not a bad peel, but just enough to remind me what summer is all about!

Nothing feels better than realizing you absolutely just don't give a shit what folks in defaultia think about you.
