Any Psytrance/Goa camps this year??

Post by windowing » Tue Aug 03, 2004 4:36 pm

I'd like to know if there are any sound systems this year that are going to play Psychedelic Trance. I am an experienced DJ, and yes, I would love to play but also just to dance to some kickin psytrance. Anyone out there with a camp and a mission??

note: while I've nothing against any other genres, in this post I am not looking for House, Jungle, or Ibiza/club trance. Just pure psychedelic goodness. :P

Thankssss!!!

I was waiting for somebody to post this question!!
So far i know a few camps that will host some psychedelic trance parties...

Super lucky camp (asylum village) is having at least 2 big parties at night and after parties also, they will be also having open decks from 4:00 pm to 8:00.

Camp israel is hosting a psytrance party on thursday i think (called club chai) they were looking for psy DJs there's a thread around about that.

Also there's a crew going from Los angeles (psytribe) that mentioned that they will be throwing parties on their camp also.

This is all info i know, if anybody knows anything related to a psytrance camp or event please post it!!!

Wacky Shack, Earth and 7:30, Wednesday night. Rumour has it that a certain Moontribe DJ will be gracing the decks. Should be good psy all night though. :)

Ok, this just in...

Just wanted to let everyone know that PsyTribe will be at the 10:00 area at burning man with an amazing set up stage, lighting and deco, but most important a kick ass soud system, that should be one of the loudest in the playa, all our resident DJ's will be playing plus whichever quality trance DJ shows up at burning man, they will be playing at our stage for sure, so we hope all who are going to Burning Man will swing by the 10:00 Area, look for the PsyTribe Camp and kick up some playa dust.

10 o'clock is the best place to watch the sunrise, btw. I'll probably be there every morning, at the very least.

The lucky cat camp of the Asylum Village (7:30 and Mercury) is also going to have psytrance at the camp. Yay!

As to psy-ambient, there are plenty of domes that would be happy to have a good DJ, especially with his own equipment, come and play. In the past, the Hookah Dome has played very good music, but just keep your ears open. ;)

Bom!

Yeah, although I don't know which side of 5:00 Hushville is on. I do know there's Kidsville, HUshville and AEZ between 5:30 and 4:30 on Earth. Setting a rump shakin' dance camp that close ... hmmmm, let's hope this works out in a neighborly way. I'm not saying anything bad about trance or dancing mind y'all, just providing some food for forethought. Knowledge is power, and such.

Of course, I have no clue if Wacky Shack IS a "dance camp" or not. Come to think of it, I usually have no clue ....

I know, three posts in a row in the same forum. I looked back at my posts, realized that not everyone was going to take them as humor and "gee isn't that funny/interesting" the way I had intended. Out of context, wacky shack next to hushville is funny. Within the context of Infinite Oasis, it makes perfect sense. Honestly, I do know these are all large theme camps with experienced folks, all located on big blocks that provide plenty of breathing room.

I just thought I came off as unusually harsh and wanted to apologize in case I nipped any toes.

I promise, no more posts while I'm medicated. Maybe I should start using (shudder) those silly smiley faces ....

The IO had originally requested Esplanade placement, so having Wacky Shack fronting the village made even more sense in that context.

I don't know precisely what the Wacky Shack folks have planned as far as nighttime entertainment (I wouldn't know Psytrance/Goa if it bit me), but they are well aware of their proximity to quiet camps like Hushville and the AEZ, as well as the general rules regarding sound levels.

With the new placement, the village map is also being reconfigured so that all camps front on the village plaza. Assuming the placement of Wacky Shack remains where I last saw it, that would mean their sound would be directed away from AEZ/Hushville. In fact, I think the immediate neighbors in that direction will be the HeeBee dorm tents.

FYI, the IO also has a stage, but I believe that's primarily intended for acoustic/nonamplified performance. We also have gennies, but they'll be appropriately enclosed and baffled.

All in all, I'm pretty sure we'll be quite neighborly. Just watch out for the rocks in the medicine wheel if you come by some night for a Tunnel burn.

(Not that I was concerned, AntiM -- I laughed when I read your posts too. I just figured I'd fill in some extra info anyway.)

Thanks your bearness. I had the feeling that something like that had happened and I'm positive everything will work out well.

We'll surely be by for the TOT; it was out at Synorgy. My Larry hauled in a ton of firewood for the Utah burn and couldn't attend; I have no doubt some of that wood ended up in the tunnel. I want him to see it on the playa, he'll like it. Small world, hmmm?
