Full Moon during BM 2012!

Good news....Burning Man 2012 will have a full moon on FRIDAY morning @ 7 AM PDT!!! Oh boy!!!!!! I love when that happens!!! The nights should be well lit all week. Great moonrise/sunsets. Full moons 3 out the last 4 years. The next full moon during BM will be in 2015 on Sat burn night. Though, no eclipses during bm for a loooooooooooooooong time.

I think the moon is considered full, for all purposes, 24 hours before and 24 hours after the exact time of fullness. This is one reason I am returning to the playa next year. I work better under the full moon. I think the last time I remember a full moon at BRC we also had a eclipse and we were out trying to wake everyone up to see the eclipse and then we had an earily man burn.. wow

Good question. Friday 7AM PST is the "moment" moon will be the fullest. It's like saying the day the moon is full except is more accurate. For me, knowing the exact time helps with photography.

A lot of people say they like the new moon more because you CAN see the art more vividly.....The stars this year were amazing. Orion was checkin' us out for sure!

I prefer a full moon though because it boosts my energy levels. I want all of those I can get during the week....

so at 7am friday the actually full moon is technically directly 180 degrees from the sun, for that brief instant it is directly opposite the sun at sunrise which basically means -just as the sun rises in the east the moon setting on opposite horizon west, *the timing is such that the closer the "full moon time" is to the sunrise time (in this case) the sunrise/moonset double coolness opposition is in synch,
lost you right? ok well then, just know that the sunset later that evening brings a moonrise soon after, but it is delayed,because the moon rises about 50 minutes later every night, 2 days later moon rises 1hr 40 min after sunset. etc.
smoke a phat one and it will make sense I swear, don't make me get out the apples and oranges to explain it. fact is you can basically guess what time it is by the moonrise or set, if you know the full moon time...and day.... time to smoke one!!
