(Gotta admit, I'm almost kind of surprised any of the sound camps were still functioning Monday morning...)
Thanks for the heads up on Travis' third post. I had in fact seen it before I made my last post in this thread but at that time my brain was still decompressing and thus my conscious mind did not make the connection between Travis' words about when their camp struck their sound system and the origin of the music that I heard and felt on Monday morning as I rode out to deep playa.
For the record, I clearly wasn't being a straight up dick in my reply to Travis. All I know is that when I rode across the playa on Monday morning there was a big sound camp with a mammoth sound system that was playing music and that camp was in the
immediate vicinity of Osiris. If the guilty party/camp wasn't Osiris then Tim could probably help the community figure out who was responsible for the music that was being pumped in that neighborhood that morning. And again, I loved hearing that music as I rode out to deep playa. It was just that once I got to deep playa I couldn't even enjoy it because I felt as though I was a test subject in a US military test of a sound weapon.

This year I was camped with Supper Club in Black Rock French Quarter. On Friday night/Saturday morning at about 2AM some self-entitled fucktard came into Whiskey and Whores and repeatedly pounded his cup on the counter as the bartender, who was a fellow BRFQ member, and I were in the middle of a conversation. It's people like that douchebag who roll into BRC on Thursday or Friday and do their best to wipe away the sense of community, mutual respect and appreciation that prevails in BRC from the time before the gate opens through the time the Weekend Warriors show up. That's why a large percentage of the decent sized theme camps stop doing most or all aspects of their public programming/events on Thursday.
I'm not being an alarmist when I say that BM is facing a real threat in the form of the Weekend Warriors. If their numbers keep growing then the city and the playa will be that much more of a mess come Sunday morning. That said, I was fucking amazed by the lack of moop on the heart of the playa when I rode out to deep playa on Monday morning. Yes, there are people who ignore the 10 principles but it is amazing how many attendees of BM live by the 10 principles.
As long as this event exists there will be a battle between the enlightened and the clueless members of BRC and it is here that that battle will repeatedly be written about at length.
