No, it doesn't! You were being sensitive.

Having Veteran's Day as a paid holiday hints toward certain professions, or a certain degree of privilege and/or alignment with some large entity or institution or other that can afford to (or is required to) give their employees that day off. When I worked for a small business, I didn't get paid holidays at all. I didn't report to work, but holidays were a loss (except that there was sometimes a Christmas bonus).
