$360, no more tiers or low income. Probably some scholarship tickets. I'm not going this year anyway, but what do I win? Oh right, chicken dinner. Does that come with cole slaw?

Key word: guesses.danibel wrote:Jeez. I hope all the $500 dollar guesses are wrong.
No-one outside the Org knows what the prices will be (I seriously doubt anyone outside of "need-to-know" has a clue what's being said), people are basing that $500 pulled-from-the-ass guess on the $650 pre-sale tickets, not on the previous ticket costs. While the tickets have gone up over the years, jumping from a top tier (outside of pre-sale) of $390 to one of $500 would be extremely unlikely, IMHO.
Remember the panicking last year over the tickets and how all the doom-and-damnation predictions came up completely wrong, and keep calm until the official announcement on the 4th. It's just over 2 weeks away.

Re: Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!
The BM ticket prices seem to follow 3-year similar pricing schedules, so I wouldn't expect the prices to deviate much from last year's prices, which started a higher price threshold. Also the JRS specifically stated that the holiday pricing is "dramatically higher" than the regular ticket pricing. Though $150 over the $500 expected price could be considered "dramatic" it's probably meant to be relative to last year's top-tier pricing at ~$400, so that's it's a ~$250 premium.
Should all 3000 holiday tickets get sold at their premium price, the amount earned would more than offset the cost of retaining the current pricing, or even reducing it from $326.25 to $320 on average. Hell, even if half or even a third get sold at that premium, it'd be enough.
I also think the 3% ($20) donation nonsense is just a cover for the high pricing being used for other purposes (perhaps price offsets). People like to be told that there's some altruistic purpose to some of these price increases, rather than something that sounds arbitrary because the real reasons won't be revealed.

I am basing these predictions on the theory that they learned something from last years fiasco, which is a bit of a stretch, but...
I predict a single tier system @ $380. The scholarship and low income programs will continue and direct distribution to theme camps will become a standard practice.
I also predict that demand will once again outpace the supply of tickets at the initial sale. There will be uncertainty, anger, and hurt feelings for many who have to wait for the hard copies in the summertime before they know for sure if they get a ticket.
In the end, it will be the same. Those with the means and the inner drive to get there, will make it happen!
I want to go home.

Re: Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!
Not so much as a prediction, but more of a "I wish" sort of warm and fuzzy:
Folks with overseas shipping addresses would have a chance to buy tickets sooner, say maybe 2,000 to 3,000 tickets are sold at what ever the base rate or median tier price would be. These tickets would be shippable only and not available for will call.
Then all US, Canada, and Mexico sales would take place in late spring, eliminating months of uncertainty purchases.
This idea is less than half baked, but at least it would give international travelers a chance to start hashing plans earlier.
Another idea, would be flat rate no tiers, besides low-income/scholarship, sold in groups of 5,000 to 10,000 once a month from February to May.

Re: Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!
Before the blog gets updated... I'm going to guess they will keep the tiers. Pre-Sale was a way for them to access how much of an increase folks could handle. From an analytical pov I would think they looked at the folks who purchased tickets (also scanning for scalpers) to see how many of the pre-sale purchasers bought tickets in previous years and at what tier they purchased at previously. Hearing that there were still Pre-Sale tickets available at the end of the sale (or so it sounds)... The cost was beyond the threshold. Lowest tier last year was $240, Pre-Sale was $420.
I'm going with:
$270
$350
$420
The pre-sale folks paid for the guarantee (and VIP party with Larry).
Now post the blog!!!

The pre-sale price was not a 'testing of the waters' to see what the market could bear.

BoyScoutGirl and JayBobBoy both got the correct price! You will split the prize. You may pick up your checks in person for your respective burner bucks at BM HQ in San Francisco. Congratulations.

Can we use this thread for further prognostications?
If so, I predict that the main sale will not sell out in under three weeks.

Re: Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!
I was thinking of starting a thread with that same question...
I predict it will take between 5 and 7 days to sell all of the tickets in the main sale.
I'll be ready on the first day!
