For those of you who are going out tonight, drive safe. Not just make sure you're safe & sober behind the wheel, but watch out for ppl who may be impaired. Check your state's AAA to see if they offer the free 'Tipsy Tow' - they offer it in CA (at least in the cities), if you've had a few you can call them for a free cab ride home. In SF it's from 6p-6a. And our city's Muni (bus/subway) is free to ride overnight, too.
This includes those of you who are being responsible, and going to and from bus stops and cab stands. Assume that there are some shit-faced people behind the wheel, and cross streets carefully. New Year's Eve is the most dangerous time of year for pedestrians, followed closely by Halloween.

Well, my kitty Posey broke both bones in his right front leg, so I spent the duration at the vets getting a cast put on it. Poor kitty. Then went to Loree's Little Shack in Rocklin and partied with all sorts of burners and Barbiebarians (i.e. Red, Twist, Harmony, Blowfish, Panduhmama, Jake, Capn Joe, Sharon, Frank the Vintner, Don, Kathleen, Debbie, Garcia, Mark the Rabbi, Lucy). I had a better time than my kitty did. Oh, and I scored three (3) bottles of absinthe, of at least two will make it on the train. Not necessarily to Reno mind you, but I'll do my best :P .

Hi YG, No, I am all tennised out and need a day of rest. Four days in a row are even too much for me. Doing some pottery glazing this morning and then we are off to west Marin and hopefully some BBQed Oysters out on Tomales Bay in the little wide spot in the road called Marshall. Beautiful day here, not a cloud in the sky. We'll stop at the Redwood grove in Samuel Taylor Park on the way and soak up the beauty of those giant old trees and if we are lucky, we'll see some salmon spawning in one of the nearby creeks. So, it should be a beautiful day, and a fine way to start 2013!

Hugs to all you barfly buddies! :D

dang I'm jealous! bbq's oysters are among my favorite foods!!
I've planted some redwoods, here at my house, and at the Hof, to try to replace that which I've used over the years. Knowing how huge they get, if one makes it to maturity, I'll have replaced my use by 10 fold.
Have a great day, Pal!

HI ASD.
yeah, ya gotta plant the right type for the climate.
Pacifica redwoods need the ocean climate, not too hot, not too cold.
Gigantia, are a mountain one, can take more extremes in weather, but need the mountain, mid level climates.
I see them in a plantation near my place, at about 6K' elevation, but I'd bet that's the upper limit.
And to grow "naturally" (no needing water or care), I'd bet 2k' el. is about the lowest.

Looking for all those things, all I can remember are a bit of sadness and loss, but I must have dropped them somewhere along the path...
I sure hope nobody steps in them! :?

Seems like this year can be the best yet... it's how we react to everything that makes the difference.
It's taken over 60 years for that to sink in!
Feels like I'm only now beginning to really live my life.
If I were any happier, I'd likely explode!
