Tutu Tuesday - It's Happening
Tutu Tuesday - It's Happening
They're getting pretty serious about Tutu Tuesday. If you're the type of person who would wear a tutu, bring one. If you're the type who would not wear one, bring one to loan to a friend.

One seven-layered multicolored tutu--check.

Who is this "they", and why are "they" getting serious about making others into conformists?CornMan wrote:They're getting pretty serious about Tutu Tuesday
I've never understood how being different in exactly the same way thousands of other people are being different, on the same day and in the same place, actually makes you any "different" than any other person in a mandated uniform.
YMMV.

Re: Tutu Tuesday - It's Happening
It is not about conformity or any such. It is about a big lark that lots of people can enjoy -- the more the merrier.
Which reminds me, I desperately need a tutu for Tuesday. Blue or green or some such; a real man's tutu. Last year I wore a green one, but it was borrowed, and it was just a tiny "token" tutu. I want a huge outrageous one. Help!

I pretty much where one everyday. I never had one before and the first time I put one on for Burningman I cried. So, yep. I wear one every chance I get now.

Re: Tutu Tuesday - It's Happening
Maryanimal has graciously offered to make me a purple tutu to match my tiny fairy wings and purple pimp hat so I shall be sporting a tutu on Tuesday. I don't really care if I am conforming or not. I was raised as a manly man so this is stepping WAY out of my normal box. I'm gonna have fun with it no matter what anybody thinks.
I'm gonna be the ugliest tutu wearing tiny fairy you've ever seen. You'll laugh, promise.

Re: Tutu Tuesday - It's Happening
If the idea of wearing a tutu makes your heart sing, wear one.
If anyone's worried that you must, trust me. You don't. Run, be free!
Here's one easy way to make one. She plugs her youtube channels a little, but gets down to business at 1:07. I'll probably make one of these tomorrow, 'cause why not.
The pre-made elastics she buys for some tutus are only good for a child's tutu, but as she demonstrates, ribbon in any length (and some extra, to tie) is another option. I would opt for ribbon that's a little wide. There's also no reason you can't buy some wide elastic as long as your waist size (buy a little bigger) then overlap the elastic by a few inches and hand-sew it together overlapped in a few places.
Buy extra tulle. If she uses 5 yards for a child, an adult will want more. Google how much for an adult-sized tutu if you're really nervous.
The ribbon tutus look easier to take off so you can use the biffies.
. . . How do you use the bathroom with a big skirt on? Have a flashlight on a lanyard, and pull your skirt up and allll to the front, like you're hiding in the bottom of a tulip.

That is a very kewl tutu! I made some of the "no sew" tutu's a few years ago. I used ribbon instead of elastic, I wish I had used elastic.Machina wrote:Did someone say TUTU!?
I will not be arriving on the playa until Wednesday (oh woe is me), so I am going to miss Tutu tuesday anyway. And if someone told me I had to wear one, I would flip them off and say "Fuck yer day!" I wear tutus WHEN I want to, not when I am ordered to. So there.
In dust we trust.

If I make a new tutu, I'm saving it for Wednesday . . . 'cause I like to procrasturbate.

I wear a different tutu every day that I'm on the playa. That's 8 different tutus that I'm bringing this year. Yep. I'm a tutu whore.

Re: Tutu Tuesday - It's Happening
I see nothing harmful with embracing a small sliver of solidarity for a very brief spell just for the novelty of it. It will be one single voice of 30,000 men and women wearing tutus with fists raised against the oppressive monolith of global cultural conformity. Then we'll look at each other and laugh, get drunk with resulting hi-jinx, and then each go our own way to the righteous path of radical self expression.

Elliot, I believe we have one you can borrow. We had/have "The Loaner Tutu"! Its a Frankin-Tutu made from the extra tulle strips from 5 or 6 other tutus. All sorts of colors, in different lengths, strung together in random order! If memory serves its pretty big so it fits anyone.Elliot wrote:![]()

I found I get sick of wearing a TuTu after about an hour. Too big and bulky, I bash against too much stuff, or get caught on things.

Much appreciated, but I said I want a "real man's tutu" -- not the national flag of the Castro District. Eric might want to borrow it, though. Again, the offer is still appreciated.illy dilly wrote:Elliot, I believe we have one you can borrow. We had/have "The Loaner Tutu"!
