Oh it's not that pie for breakfast doesn't sound like a great idea… it's just that eating anything at all ever again still seems unimaginable right now!

Know the feeling, Captain. You are too kind, Lucky. Morning, Sav and AnitiM. Beautiful sunny morning here with temps to go to the mid 60s. Get to see the all the family tomorrow afternoon at a Chanukkah Party at my daughter's home just south of San Francisco. As I have gotten older, I really treasure being amongst my kids and grandkids. One of my oldest grandsons who is now living in New Orleans called me the other day and asked if he could join me at Burning Man next year! My answer, "You bet"!! He's 24 and a graduate of Evergreen College in Olympia, Washington. Looks just like me when I was his age! Uncanny resemblance. Really nice young man and I really hope he does come. Carpe Diem!!!!!

That's funny… I came from New Orleans and am now in WA…
I have a nephew who looks and is so much like me at his age.

*staggers in, makes CCCW*

HI gang!
dang, no pie for me *notes missing mittens*..........my guests ended up taking it all home with them..........hahah rats!! I made the whole feast, set the house and ate to much.......feeling like I've split a cord of oak! But, every liked it.........haha I serve on metal mismatched plates, no serving dishes, tupperware and baking pans..........forgot to get ice so sodas and beers were from the can.
Not sure how you'd describe it, other than "low key" Paper towels for napkins...........
some coffee, then, I start the clean up!! Clyde, will be a happy boy today!

Lol low key is good Yggy. It's about the company not the dishware.

I did pretty much low key too as I don't have a dishwasher. We used disposable plastic plates And drank out of cans/bottles except for the mixed drinks:( Didn't use the silver either. But whatever, I had 12 people over and with no dishwasher the pots, pans, etc were enough to wash by hand.

I am astonished by the number of deli workers who have no idea what "no mayo, please" means.

I don't care if you want it on your sandwich, I just want to be able to order a BLT with no mayo and not end up scraping the mayo off.

I'm kinda funny that way.

Try no tomatoes, no ketchup at a burger place. McDonald's almost always screws it up.

Back when I did eat at Arctic Circle, I told them no mayo. They got all indignant, insisting there was no mayo on their burgers. I had to order one with no "white sauce". Yeah, fuck you, Carl's is better anyway.

Happy post Thanksgiving!

Actually today is our Family gathering as the kids all had to work...so here we go, in a minute Im doing baked yams and that super toothache sweet candied yams.(step dad loves that stuff).

I'd like a shot please, oh yeah, I remember how this works...Im pouring shots who's in?

Image

So my mom asks me to pick up some both red wine and white wine for today, then adds "I would love to have a bottle of some good white to toast grandma as we are using the wedgewood for the first time in years".

So off to total wine...got some red, got another red...lol...then off to the whites....3rd box in the whites category..."RUNNING WITH SCISSORS!!!!" Are you fucking kidding me! <3 <3 <3 IT! My Great grandmother, R.I.P. would have loved it!!!! She taught me how to sew, to cook, to clean....well we did not study that subject with a lot of scrutiny. She showed me how to love unconditionally. She once prayed in tongue over my very sick oldest dtr at the age of 2, she had a fever of 104 and 10 minutes later she was up playing looking at us like we were the weird ones.

I raise my shot glass: "Tooo Grandma Dorothy, you showed me the sparkle and how to live it! Love you always."
Names pinemom, but my friends call me "Piney".

Oh (((Piney))) yes. I will drink to that wonderful woman, and all the great ladies who made us what we are.

I had a sad Thanksgiving, we all cried, my dear brother is so sick and our poor demented mother pretending to recognize us.

But today is better, I am home with my Dear Husband and sons, got another pie made and a turkey in the oven now so we can have a simple sane happy turkey dinner. No drama, just the food we wished we'd had a chance in peace and while it was still hot. 8)

I'll join the toast to the great women who taught us. Grandmas and Aunts and Mothers.
Hugs to My Dear Friend, sorrow for the circumstances, and sicknesses. I'm glad you are with your smaller own home family now.
I actually planned to buy a turkey today, and cook it tomorrow. The first store I went to had NO whole turkeys, and not even turkey parts. I don't feel like shopping more today, so I just got Chinese food. Maybe I'll look into getting a turkey next weekend.

I had to work today, and don't feel I know what day it is. No work tomorrow. I need to get out and see the daytime sky, that should put things right again. Thank you shoppers for mostly staying home. It was slow slow in the early mornings when I was working, and I got out before the afternoons got crazy. I had time to talk to some folks about their decorations, and plans today. A few lonely older people who just needed to tell somebody about something, and I was glad to listen (after my initial irritation shifted to begrudging patience.) One lady stayed around the Christmas decorations for a couple of hours, and ended up helping me set up a display tree. She was a gift to me today. A gift to remember to listen, and try to empathize with folks who are having tough times out in the world, people who are not certain why things aren't working out so well for them.

Yesterday after finally pulling it down off the trailer but before putting it away until next summer, a friend and I took the Land Yacht for a drive around the neighborhood. Passing cars didn't know what to do, people watched from their front porches, as if they never saw a goddamm boat before.
